3rd Cumbernauld Scout Troop

3rd Cumbernauld Scout Troop 3rd Cumbernauld is a Scout group based in Cumbernauld Free Church. The Scout Troop is for kids aged 10-13 and meet on Thursday nights from 7.30pm until 9.30pm.

The group ranges from 6 year old Beavers to 17 year old Explorers and even beyond into Network and leadership. The Scout troop is for children ranging from 10 and a half to 13 years old. Hi to everyone that has been a member of 3rd Cumbernauld scout group, we have today closed the scout section today, we simply don’t have enough scouts to keep it going, hopefully in time the junior sections will thrive and we can restart but until then after 60 plus years we closed a very sad day.

For Lilly and Peter, slight change of plan for marshalling at the Great Scottish Run this Sunday 5th Oct. Meeting time is 8 am at the Free Church. Uniform from waist up please. Make sure you have waterproofs as this is going to be a wet one.

This is an urgent appeal to all existing members and parents. The past couple of weeks we have only had 2 scouts turn up for our weekly meeting. That is unsustainable and they were sent home. If our 6 members were to turn up regularly we would be able to do what we are supposed to do. This turn of events does nothing to encourage new members to join. I also cannot expect my volunteer leaders, who give freely of their time to keep turning up only to be disappointed. This also calls in to doubt the feasibility of our Christmas Camp. If we don't have troop, we can't run this camp. Only our Beavers, Cubs and Explorers will survive. Do we really want the photo to become reality. Mo.

Well, as the Leader team, we are getting very disheartened. With only 2 children turning up tonight we had no option but to cancel the meeting and send the kids home. We can't play games or do badgework. The future of this Scout Troop is really in jeopardy. It is unsustainable. This would be a real shame, after 60 years in Cumbernauld, and the last remaining troop in the town. Not to mention a shame for one child who turns up every week and one who has just joined us.
