What a brilliant afternoon at First Friday Networking here at UP!

Great conversations, new connections and such positive energy in the room. Thank you to everyone who joined us today and helped make the session so welcoming and inspiring.

Events like this are a reminder of how powerful community can be when people come together to share ideas, support one another and build meaningful relationships.

A special thank you to Shirley Burgess () for organising and leading this movement every first Friday of the month here at UP. Your commitment to bringing people together is truly appreciated.

Yesterday at UP, this was the kind of moment we love to see.

Two founders, sitting across from each other in our coworking space, not pitching, not performing, just having a real conversation about business, growth and the realities of building something of your own.

We first met Simon Turay through First Friday, a free monthly networking event that takes place here at UP on the first Friday of every month.

Simon later joined our Croydon Business Support Programme, alongside Kat Reid, who also became part of the journey.

Yesterday, they were both back at UP, using the coworking space, sharing ideas, exchanging experiences and supporting each other as they continue developing their businesses.

And that is exactly what UP is about.

Not just desks.
Not just meeting rooms.
A place where business owners meet the right people, have the right conversations and find the confidence to keep moving forward.

It was great to see Simon and Kat collaborating here yesterday, and even better to see how connections made in this space continue to grow beyond a single event or programme.

With the Croydon Business Support Programme being renewed, we are excited to welcome more entrepreneurs, founders and local businesses into moments like this.

Because sometimes, the most valuable part of business support is the person sitting across the table from you.

It was a pleasure to see Brian Duffus (.duffus), CEO of Duffus Community Foundation, and Mikala Ayres (), Trustee, making use of the space here at UP.

Duffus Community Foundation () does important work supporting children, young people and families, helping to build confidence, wellbeing, self-esteem and resilience through community programmes, mentoring and recreational activities.

As a Virtual Office client at UP, Duffus Community Foundation benefits from more than just a professional business address in Croydon. When needed, they can also access our facilities for meetings, planning sessions and in-person collaboration.

For us, this is what a Virtual Office should offer: flexibility, credibility and practical support for organisations doing meaningful work in the community.

Thank You for Joining Us at Working Differently: Innovation, Neurodiversity & 14 Years of Impact

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for an inspiring evening of conversation, learning and celebration at UP.

The event brought together entrepreneurs, professionals, community leaders and advocates to explore how neurodiversity, innovation and different ways of thinking can create stronger businesses, workplaces and communities.

We are incredibly grateful to our fantastic speakers:

🔹 Emma Meheux
🔹 Daniel Mullings
🔹 Babs Giwa
🔹 Jo de Serrano
🔹 Lindita Saliasi

Thank you for sharing your experiences, expertise and perspectives so openly. Your contributions sparked meaningful discussions and gave everyone plenty to reflect on.

The evening was also a special opportunity to celebrate Geoff Ranson's 14 years of impact, supporting entrepreneurs and helping countless people take their first steps in business across Croydon and beyond. Geoff's dedication, encouragement and commitment to the local entrepreneurial community have left a lasting legacy, and we were delighted to recognise that contribution together.

Most importantly, thank you to everyone who attended, asked questions, shared ideas and contributed to such a welcoming and engaging atmosphere.

Events like these remind us that innovation often comes from seeing the world differently and that our communities are strongest when we create space for diverse voices and experiences.

We look forward to continuing these conversations and welcoming you to future events at UP.
