The Old Peatworks is getting ready to sparkle! This December, hop aboard the train and travel through the moors to visit Father Christmas in his enchanting Grotto — plus browse our Christmas Market, packed with treats and gifts from local Lincolnshire makers.

🎅 Meet Santa — take the train to the end of the line, board the Lisbon Tram, and enjoy a magical chat with Father Christmas. Children receive a small gift and chocolate selection box to take home.

🎁 Christmas Market — open to everyone, no booking needed! Browse stalls from local crafters and makers while you soak up the festive atmosphere at The Old Peatworks.

👻🎃 Halloween Ghost Train Returns to Crowle Peatland Railway! 🎃👻

The mist is rolling in over the peatlands, and something's stirring at The Old Peatworks...

Join us on 24th–25th October for our spooky Halloween Opening! Climb aboard the atmospheric Lisbon Tram for eerie storytelling sessions steeped in local ghost and boggart folklore, explore the railway by lantern light, and bring the little ones in their best (or scariest!) costumes for family-friendly Halloween activities.

Whether you're brave enough to hear the tales of the peat bog's restless spirits, or just fancy a fun family day (or night!) out, there's something for everyone.

Sort-it Saturday (22nd August)

A smaller band of volunteers gathered in the cooler temperatures of Saturday to continue sorting a few things.

Inside we made more progress on the wheel lathe, not much to see yet, but it's getting closer.

Outside we split our efforts, completing a track inspection, and progressing on the track bed for the platform road.

We are open for our last Summer Wednesday on the 26th, why not come and see the progress for yourself - cafe will be open, and trains running 10-3.

Sort-it Saturday (25th July)

It was a bits and pieces day at the Old Peatworks. Our volunteers worked on a number of tasks around site.

Inside, we continued building the new shop display tables, the first one is now complete, and the next one well on its way. In the workshop we checked the coach as it had been riding a bit oddly - eventually we found and rectified the problem. As we had some time to spare, we started sorting the tool racks, a long overdue task.

Outside we mostly concentrated on cutting back the growth. While there hasn't been much rain of late, there has been some growth.

Don't forget we are open on Summer Wednesdays, so why not come and see us, have a walk on the moor, and have a cuppa in the cafe.
