Crook and Weardale Choral Society The Crook and Weardale Choral Society follows a rich tradition of amateur choral singing in Crook and Weardale which goes back for over a century.

The current choir was revived in 1995 and has performed over 160 concerts since then. Come and see us sing! We rehearse in St. Cuthbert's Centre, Crook, every Tuesday evening. We love to perform as a choir; check out our concert dates! We are a mixed choir, split into traditional female (soprano and alto) and male (tenor and bass) parts. We enjoy singing a wide range of classic and contemporary ch

oral piece and hold concerts throughout the year. Our members are a wonderful group of friendly, warm, funny and very different people - all united by a profound love of music and singing. We like to have fun but we do take our singing seriously...our musical director, Roger Kelly (OBE) keeps us focused during rehearsals (most of the time!) and also conducts and comperes our concerts. Roger is responsible for our seasonal programming and he selects the pieces we sing. Info for prospective members - we do not have a formal 'audition' process (or bootcamp!). We'd like you to be able to sing in tune with a sweet tone. It will help (you, most of all!) if you can read music but it's not a requirement for membership. We do ask for a high level of commitment; attendance of most, if not all, rehearsals whenever possible and a commitment to work hard during practice. New members will be subject to a trial period of a few weeks to ensure that their commitment, personality and voice blends in well!
