28/10/2020
Dear All
Well what a year 2020 has turned out to be!
π₯³Weβre very excited to announce the opening of Cricklade Leisure Centre and Swimming Pool on the 2nd January 2021.
There have been many challenges this year for everyone, some of which caused inevitable delays with the project but we are nearly there now and Iβm sure youβre as excited as we are to get back inside the centre. Iβve summarised some key information about the refurbishment and full opening plans for you to be aware of. Please as ever call us or ask for more information when you visit.
Interruption to service:βοΈ
The power supply needs to be swapped over ahead of the full reopening. We are working with the contractors and the electricity board and will give you plenty of notice. It means we will have to shut the centre for up to 24 hours.
Childrenβs Swimming Lessons:πββοΈ
Iβm pleased to say that Swim lessons will commence on January 4th 2021. We understand most children will not have been near a swimming pool for a year so we appreciate they will need a few sessions to find their water wings again. Please bear with the instructors while they do initial assessments. If your child needs to move levels we will try to manage it within the group. If it requires a change of class we will talk to you to try to find a suitable alternative. We have tried to maintain the same day your child swam before, however there are some time changes as we work with Covid secure rules and limited class numbers. We hope to create some βnormalityβ for the children in this mixed up world we find ourselves in.
We will be asking where possible for children to arrive βbeach readyβ minus the inflatable unicorn and bucket and spade! One adult per child may assist with changing then spectate upstairs. Please keep clothes, bags, towels etc with you at all times and a one-way system will be in place to avoid a cross over between children. They will change and line up along the dry-side corridor as before but they will exit into the new wet-side changing rooms. Staff will be on hand for week 1 to help direct you with these procedures. No parents or spectators are permitted on poolside. Masks are required by adults when within the centre.
Toddler & Adult Swim Lessons will also commence in January. For 1-2-1 lessons please discuss with your instructor.
Childrenβs Gymnastics Classes:π€ΈββοΈπ€ΈββοΈ
These have started in a reduced format and will continue in this way until restrictions are lifted.
Toddler Gymnastics: π€ΈββοΈ
We are hoping to resume these in the new year pending Covid restrictions.
Fitness Classes:π§ββοΈπ§
Most Fitness classes will migrate into the new Dance Studio so please keep an eye out for the new timetables which will appear on our social media pages and website.
Gym:ππΎββοΈππΎββοΈ
Our new Gym equipment is scheduled to arrive in two phases for logistical reasons. We are very excited to have new and modern kit installed here at Cricklade and we canβt wait to share this with you.
Tennis courts: πΎ
Unfortunately, the Astro has sustained some damage and is out of action. Given the season we are addressing other facilities as a priority at present.
Membership:π¨βπ©βπ¦βπ¦
Members who continued their subscriptions throughout our closure will not see an increase to their membership until April 2022. All other memberships will be required to migrate onto a new Direct Debit system. We are working on how the memberships will look for the new opening and will provide the information to you as soon as possible.
Car Park:ππ΄π
Improvements to the car park are currently under discussion as part of the Asset Transfer to Cricklade Town Council.
And Finally!!
If we managed to keep your attention to the end of this update, most importantly we need to say a BIG Thank Youβ€β€ for your patience and support during a very difficult year. We are grateful to Wiltshire Council for gifting this re-development to Cricklade Leisure Centre for many generations to come and enjoy.πͺ
