Cheshire East Sands

Cheshire East Sands At Cheshire East Sands, we support those who have lost a baby during pregnancy, at birth, or shortly after.

You’re not alone - we’re here to listen, to understand, and to walk with you through your grief.

Today marks the start of Black Baby Loss Awareness Week, 11-17 May. We’re proud to be supporting our friend Alicia Burnett, the founder of BBLAW, to help raise awareness of pregnancy and baby loss, amplify the voices of bereaved parents to help improve outcomes, and break the silence so that more people feel less isolated or alone in their grief 💜🧡

Sadly, in the UK, we know that Black babies are twice as likely to be stillborn when compared to white babies. And Black mothers are twice as likely to die during pregnancy.

Campaigns such as Black Baby Loss Awareness Week are important and needed to shine a spotlight and tackle these inequalities head on, so that together, we can work to create safer care, save more babies’ lives, and provide equal access to the right bereavement support for all.

We’ll be sharing updates throughout the week and ways that you can get involved if you wish. Please do take care and remember that we are always here for you. A link to our culturally sensitive support is available in the comments ⬇️

EVENING SUPPORT GROUP THIS WEDNESDAY! 💞

The meeting this month will be held face to face on Wednesday:

Date: Wednesday 1st April
Time: 7pm to 9pm
Place: Haven Cafe, North Street Crewe

The evening support group is for anyone who has experienced the loss of a baby. Whether it was recent or many years ago; the group is an open space to talk about your baby or how you are feeling. There is no pressure to talk, sometimes it’s ok to just listen to others and know you aren’t alone.

The group is run by bereaved parents so we can identify with all those feelings a bereaved parent/grandparent experiences.

Please feel free to get in touch with any questions.

We’d like to make you aware of some changes that we are making to Sands Garden Day at the National Memorial Arboretum (NMA). Instead of one large annual event, this year we’re going to have two smaller, more personal memorial events at the Sands Garden on Saturday, 4 July and Thursday, 24 September between 12-2pm.

We know the Sands Garden at the NMA is a special place for so many. It is always there for you as a peaceful place to sit among the trees and remember your baby or babies. We know that it’s not always easy to travel, and you might prefer to spend time in a memorial garden near you. There are many local gardens of remembrance that Sands Groups and volunteers either manage or support in their area 💜🧡

We have shared an article on our website which provides more information about the changes and where you can find our local gardens of remembrance across the UK. A link to the article is in the comments below ⬇️

Only a few days to go until we launch Say Their Name Day in the UK on Wednesday 25 March! This is a day for everyone to remember a much-loved baby, share their name, a special date or memory about them.

We would love for parents, grandparents, relatives, friends and colleagues to join in and ‘say their name’. Because hearing their baby’s name means the world to a bereaved parent.

Find out how you can take part. Link in comments below 👇
