Build your career in Welding and Engineering with Building Heroes 😊

We’re excited to be launching our new 5-week Welding and Engineering training programme at Darlington Skills Academy this November.

Designed for service leavers, veterans, reservists and military family members, this practical, hands-on course will help learners develop real workshop skills while working towards recognised qualifications.

Learners will gain experience in areas including:
✅ Welding and cutting processes
✅ Flat, horizontal and vertical welding skills
✅ Beads on plate, fillet welds and corner welds
✅ Pipe-to-plate joints, brazing and soldering
✅ Thermal and plasma cutting
✅ Health and safety in welding

No previous experience is required, just the motivation to learn, build confidence and take the next step towards a career in welding and engineering.

We are now accepting learners up to 18 months before discharge, helping Service Leavers make the most of their resettlement period and plan with confidence.

Our industry-led construction training programmes are designed specifically for the Armed Forces community, supporting learners to reskill, redeploy and move towards meaningful civilian careers in construction and the built environment.

Our programmes offer more than technical training. You will benefit from:

✔ Employer engagement and introductions

Our Construction Multi-Skills programmes cover areas including:
