Tonight was Dragons Den at the squadron.

The Cadets brief was to design, cost and pitch a product that would benefit the Cadet experience.

Some of the ideas were fantastic, we had a new app, a “no scuff” shoe bag, a runway tarmac machine, automatic shoe polisher and a pre packed rucksack with all the essentials! The Cadets gave passionate and well thought out pitches and did well under scrutiny from the dragons, thinking on their feet. Some good deals were done!

It was a busy day for XIX yesterday! At the Squadron we were joined by Fg Off Harry Briggs who was a CWO in Sussex but is now an air traffic controller and Squadron Adjutant with 78 Squadron, Swanwick. Fg Off Briggs spoke about how RAFAC helps prepare for Phase 1, Officer Phase 1 (MIOT), ATC Phase 2 (JATCC), and 78 Squadron’s operation/output. It was incredible night for our cadets to gain insight into what RAFC Cranwell is really like! Off the squadron, we had two cadets travel down to Boscombe Down for flying. Unfortunately due to the weather only one made it up however they got to test their skills on flight simulators instead!

Today four of our cadets and our Padre were incredibly lucky to attend the church service at the RAF Chapel at St Clement Danes Church in celebration of the 85th Anniversary of the RAF Air Cadets.

Happy 85th birthday to this incredible organisation that offers so many valuable life skills to both Cadets and Adult volunteers.

Tonight we hosted our first open evening of 2026 showcasing everything that we do here, from drill and flight sim to first aid and field craft. This extraordinary bunch of cadets have successfully showed how amazing this organisation is to 15 new recruits! XIX is forever growing and we are always looking forward to meeting new excited young people that want to join our squadron.
