1st Crawley Team Leaders Adam and Anna had a chance to learn some new bushcraft skills at the weekend. They joined 20 other team leaders and team members at a bushcraft weekend at Bears Wood Campsite. It was led by the fantastic BUSHSCOUT.UK They covered cooking over the fire, tarpology, whittling, fire lighting, saw and axe use. They can’t wait to pass on their new skills to our Beavers, Cubs and Scouts. Every day is a school day!

1st Crawley Scouts took to their bikes in celebration of World Bicycle Day today. Starting from our hut in Southgate - one group went clockwise and one anti-clockwise using the cycle paths to get to Tilgate Park play area. 20 mins in the play area and then each group headed back along the route they hadn’t yet done. 10km in total. Great exercise, great skill building and great sense of achievement 🚲 ⚜️ 🚲

Adventure is Calling... and we need YOU!
Looking for a way to give back, learn new skills, and have a bit of a laugh along the way? 1st Crawley Scout Group is looking for enthusiastic adults to join our incredible leadership team!

Whether you’re a master of the great outdoors or more of a "pro at organized chaos," there’s a place for you here. You’ll be helping young people build confidence, learn life skills, and experience the thrill of adventure in a safe, supportive environment.

We’re based at Oak Road in Southgate (near Goffs Park) and run Scouts on Wednesday evenings and Beavers and Cubs on Thursday evenings.

We’re looking for any of:
- Adult team members for evening meetings or weekend camps
- Stores & equipment organiser
- Membership secretary
- Hiking expedition team members (to support mountain expeditions)

Beavers aged 6-8 Thursday 5:30pm to 6:30pm
Cubs aged 8-10 Thursday 6:45pm to 8pm
Scouts aged 10-14 Wednesday 7:15pm to 9:15pm

1st Crawley Cubs were out and about in Crawley on a 5000 step walk 🥾They tested their map reading and local skills and ended up at the play area in Goffs Park for a great end of term treat! Thanks to our Young Leaders for organising 😊

1st Crawley Beavers went on a history walk into Crawley High Street. They enjoyed exploring, looking at the older buildings, and seeing if they could spot any blue plaques.

1st Crawley Scouts demonstrated fantastic teamwork and courage last week when they tackled the Gladiator Challenge at Blackland Farm Outdoor Centre. When they weren’t climbing they were belaying. Great group activity!

1st Crawley Scouts always love a bit of cooking. They often go and cook at home too. This week it was Flatbread topped with a Rösti. Delicious and pretty healthy too!

Last weekend 1st Crawley joined Squirrels, Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Explorers and Leaders from across the Crawley District for the annual St George's Day Parade.

The highlight of the day was the Renewal of the Promise. It was a powerful moment to see everyone—from our energetic Beavers to our Adult Volunteers—standing together to pledge:
+ To do our best.
+ To help other people.
+ To live by the Scout values.

1st Crawley Scouts navigated their way around Crawley neighbourhoods on their annual Chippy Hike. Thanks to Northgate Fish Bar and West Green Fish Bar for their yummy chips!
