Friends of Buchan Country Park Friends of Buchan Country Park is a volunteer community group supporting Buchan Country Park in West Sussex.

We organise family events, seasonal photography competitions, and fundraising activities to help protect and promote this beautiful country park.

☀️🌿 Escape the heat and discover the beauty of Buchan Country Park! 🌳📸
Summer is the perfect time to explore our shady woodland trails, spot wildlife, and capture the magic of the season.
📷 Enter our Summer Photography Competition – it's FREE and open to all ages! Whether you're using a camera or your phone, we'd love to see your favourite summer moments from the park.
🏆 The winning photographs will be featured in our 2027 Friends of Buchan Country Park Calendar, available to purchase from December – a wonderful chance to have your photo seen and enjoyed all year long!

🔥 Do Not Light Fires in Buchan Country Park. 🔥

This morning the Fire Service attended Buchan Country Park for the second time in as many weeks, due to the irresponsible behaviour of some individuals who do not follow the No Fires rule within the Park.

Today an irresponsible visitor left their camp site fire smouldering and walked away from the site, without checking it was even out.

⛺ Camping is Not Permitted in the Park ⛺

When the Duty Ranger attended it was apparent that the ground itself was smouldering and burning slowly out in all directions. Several inches deep of woodland floor was already affected and the tree roots within it catching.

The Fire Service drenched the fire-site, and the surrounding woodland floor, and the very real risk of a woodland fire was extinguished.

Many thanks are also due to several of our regular customers who both reported the fire to site staff and in one instance helped the Duty Ranger search for it.

If you see an open fire in the Park PLEASE report it immediately by phoning 999.

The Friends of Buchan Country Park are incredibly proud to support such a beautiful, well-loved park. A huge congratulations and thank you to everyone whose hard work and dedication helps make Buchan Country Park a place we can all enjoy. Here's to many more years of success! 💚🌳

Today marks the longest day of the year and what better time to launch our Summer Photography Competition!

🏆📸 Today we had the pleasure of meeting Abbie Leigh, winner of our 'Wildlife Wonders' category, to present her with one of our bespoke Spring Photography Competition trophies. Congratulations, Abbie! 🎉
We would also like to congratulate our other category winners, Niki Rigo ('Spring in Bloom') and Flynn Johnstone ('Signs of Spring' & our very 1st Junior Winner), who were unfortunately unable to attend today.

Their winning photographs will be featured in our 2027 Friends of Buchan Country Park Calendar, due out in December. As well as appearing in future marketing materials and across our social media channels.

We'd also like to extend another huge thank you to everyone who entered the competition. The quality of the entries was fantastic, and we thoroughly enjoyed seeing Buchan Country Park through your eyes.

If you didn't win this time, don't be discouraged, you'll soon have another opportunity to get involved with our 🌞 Summer Photography Competition, which will be launching shortly, so keep an eye on our page for further details.

🌸 Congratulations to our three winners of our Spring Photography Competition! 🌸

'Signs of Spring' by Flynn Johnstone, our 1st Jr winner!!

You have all truly captured the essence of Buchan in springtime. Your photographs beautifully showcase the colours, wildlife, landscapes and special moments that make the park such a wonderful place to visit during the season.

We were treated to a fabulous collection of entries, and the standard was exceptionally high. The quality and creativity on display made the judging and voting incredibly difficult, every photograph captured something special about spring.
A huge thank you to everyone who took part.

If your photo wasn't selected this time, please don't be discouraged. We still have two more seasonal competitions to come, giving you plenty more opportunities to share your photography and showcase your talent.
