🌿 Restoring the River Rib at Dowsetts Farm 🐟
It’s been a fantastic project for the Aquamaintain team to be involved in, helping to restore and enhance a section of the River Rib, one of England’s precious chalk streams.
Working closely with Dowsetts Farm, the Wild Trout Trust, the Environment Agency and Affinity Water, Aquamaintain Ltd was proud to design and deliver the restoration works, creating a more natural, diverse and resilient river system.
The project has included:
💧 300m of new, habitat-rich meandering river channel
🪵 1km of river enhancement using carefully placed woody material and gravel
🌿 New wetland features, including ponds and scrapes
These interventions have been designed to improve flow and channel diversity, reduce excess sediment, reconnect the river with its floodplain and create valuable habitat for a wide range of wildlife — including brown trout, water voles and countless other aquatic and riparian species.
A project of this scale is only possible through strong collaboration, and we’d like to thank Jeffrey Pearman and the team at Dowsetts Farm, the Environment Agency and Affinity Water for their support, expertise and commitment to delivering meaningful improvements for the River Rib.
From initial design through to construction, it’s been a privilege to deliver this project on the ground.
Now comes the exciting part — watching the river and its wildlife respond and flourish. 🌱
