We provide accommodation and support to those experiencing homelessness and hardship locally.

Crawley Open House provides both a direct access hostel, support services for anyone in need and a variety of other accommodation. There are 26 beds for those suffering the effects of homelessness available to those in need regardless of their issues, needs and history. A team of specialist workers are available during the day to offer further support to residents and those in need. Join Romesh Ranganathan as he road-tests new material ahead of his brand-new tour. All profits from this show will go to our front-line work amongst those experiencing homelessness locally. Tickets are available via the Hawth website from noon on Friday 9th October at £29 each.

We didn't know what kati rolls were but we do now! We were so grateful to Chef Roza, Fatemeh, Penny and Simon from Carnegie Group for bringing all the ingredients and preparing them for everyone here recently in our hostel kitchen. They were delicious filled paratha wraps, and the consensus amongst residents was that they were one of the best things we have ever tasted! We are humbled and delighted to be the charity partner of Carnegie Group, and they help us in all sorts of ways. Thank you to their entire team.

We appreciate everyone at Worth School and this group of kind-hearted students who organised and collected second-hand clothes for us. In addition to this donation, they have now turned their focus to collecting new pants and socks for vulnerable adults and children in Crawley, along with sanitary products for women, which we are particularly in need of. We are grateful to those involved.

We are incredibly grateful for all volunteers who take time off work to help us out. Recently, we met the lovely people from r2p UK Systems Ltd for the first time. They organised two teams to make delicious lunches in our hostel kitchen. If your team at work would like to do something similar, please get in touch with us.

Crawley is home to a Chagossian community of around 3,500 - the largest in the UK. Some of them fall through the cracks and find themselves homeless and without much support, and that was the predicament of Letitia, who is now a resident in our high-support hostel.

‘I was homeless for more than two years, sleeping rough on the streets and dealing with a lot of stress and uncertainty. Then I heard about Crawley Open House through other people. They told me it was a good place where I would receive a lot of support and help. Since I’ve moved into the hostel, living here has made me feel happy and secure. I don’t feel like I have to face my problems alone.’

With funding from the Government's Foreign Commonwealth & Development Office we recently recruited two Creole-speaking Chagossian support workers to help us look after many residents and clients from the Chagos Islands and Mauritius.

We truly appreciate Susie, Sophie and Kathryn from SGN for taking the time to return to our hostel kitchen and help us sort out lunch recently. They cooked up a very hearty jacket potato lunch with three different toppings. Most company employees get some volunteering days these days - we are honoured that so many choose to spend them here serving those in our residential hostel. Perhaps you or your colleagues could do something similar?

We were thrilled to welcome Jaspal, Andy and Kogasry from London Gatwick back to Open House recently. Together, they cooked a very delicious chickpea curry lunch with naan bread and salad for our residents and staff on duty, and it went down very well. We are very grateful for their help once again!

A massive thank you goes out to two very supportive organisations, O3e and Thales UK. During a team-building event arranged by O3e for the new intake of Thales apprentices and graduates, ten new bikes were built and later delivered to us. These bikes will be given to certain residents and service users to facilitate access to work and appointments. We are grateful once again to O3e and Thales for their thoughtfulness and generosity.

We love it when a team of volunteers comes back and helps us out with lunch a second time. A huge thank you to Natalie from SGN for organising another hostel kitchen takeover and bringing back colleagues Charlotte, Kara and Daryl to work with us again. Their version of loaded jacket potatoes went down very well as did the cookies for dessert.

Last Sunday we were delighted to be involved with Run Reigate for the first time in the spectacular surroundings of Priory Park. It's an amazing community event with over 3,000 runners and a vibrant event village. Thanks to those who used 'our' car park and bought raffle tickets, with special thanks to our small but mighty team of runners and their supporters. In all, we raised more than £3000 towards our front-line work and had a fantastic day.
