Our biggest fundraising event is usually our annual Big Sleepout in Crawley’s Queen’s Square, and the next one is on the night of Thursday November 12th 2026. Come and get a small glimpse of the cold, insecurity and disorientation that too many must endure EVERY night. Alternatively arrange your own mini-event with family or colleagues and sleep out at home or at your place of work? To register interest please email [email protected]

As a small independent local charity, we are blessed with so much support from kind individuals and local businesses. We are tremendously grateful to Nicola and her team from the Europa Gatwick Hotel for taking over our hostel kitchen recently and cooking a delicious lunch for everyone here.

We always feel encouraged whenever someone answers our appeals for food or other necessary items, especially when that someone is new to helping us. That is why we were tremendously grateful when Mark at Limited reached out and his son delivered several boxes of brand-new sleeping bags recently. A shout-out to Andrew Nash at Gatwick Construction Ltd for introducing Mark and his company to us.

A summer like this one brings us a set of challenges. Hostel rooms are very hot, and we have invested in fans for every resident. Those sleeping rough and members of the street community are at heightened risk of dehydration, sunburn and heatstroke. If you can help us with supplies of bottled water, fans, sunscreen and sun hats, please get in touch.

Chenai and the team at EverGood Medicals are great supporters of us and our work and donate regular financial gifts. They often bring a team of friends and colleagues to take over our hostel kitchen, and they did their magic again recently with delicious fried chicken and rice which was a big hit among our residents. Thank you very much!

A huge thank you to everyone at The Crawley Labour Women Community Group for dropping off donations of mixed food items and toiletries at our hostel recently. They have been instrumental in supporting local food poverty charities over the years by collecting donations at local parades. Thanks to them and everyone who has given towards their collections.

A massive thanks to our friend Ummar (right) from Serco for organising and personally delivering two huge bags of deodorants. Serco has been a very strong supporter of Open House over the past few years, from dropping off donations, cooking in our hostel kitchen and participating in multiple fundraising events. We are grateful for their help and support.

People often ask how they can help. Here's an unusual way! We are proud to be a beneficiary charity for the Greater Haywards Heath Bike Ride on Sunday 6th September in and around the town. We have been asked to supply some route marshals for a few hours at various marker points around West Sussex, and we need some more, please. Ideally in pairs and with their own transport - all required instruction will be provided. Please email [email protected] if you can help. If you'd like to ride in the event, visit https://shorturl.at/mbar0 for more details.
