Take part in the BOOST project 'Wellies'

Wellies is an exciting new project—a devised play that explores the internal conflict of a protagonist torn between family values and personal authenticity. The play will be created in close collaboration with actors and professional creatives through a series of innovative, co-devised workshops. We’re seeking passionate actors to join us for these collaborative R&D sessions, where your input will be integral to shaping the development of the piece.

From dance and theatre, to inspiring community initiatives, this brilliant round of recipients will be bringing their incredible creative ideas to life in Crawley!

Image 1: Kim Wright is using her BOOST to develop an original piece of work, Wellies. Crawley people are encouraged to be involved in the rehearsal and development.

Image 2: Richard W. Symonds is a local thinker, writer and conservationist. He'll be using his BOOST to bring his story of Ifield's Friendly Dragon to new audiences.

Image 3: Crawley resident Ieva will use her BOOST to promote her Women's Dance Circle, a creative space where women can connect, find support and navigate life's challenges with strength and grace.

Image 4: Ciara Lyons is using her BOOST to develop 'Sing-Along Music Bingo', a fun, musical experience for adults 60+ living in care home settings across Crawley.

Image 5: Catherine and Annabelle will use their BOOST to conduct research and development for a pre-professional dance scheme, aiming to establish pathways for young people in Crawley to pursue careers in dance.

In the year 2023-24 we worked with these Core Consortium organisations to oversee the governance and funding agreement for Crawley’s Creative Playground, which is the Arts Council England's Creative People and Places programme for Crawley.

We meet with them four times a year and they also provide input and oversight of the Creative Playground programme.

A huge thanks to Steve, Toby, Debs, Graeme, Vince and of course Dave, the independent chair. They give their time for free.

Call out for a fashion designer & community artist!

Are you passionate about fashion and community engagement? We're seeking a dynamic community artist to lead workshops and facilitate the collaborative creation of an artwork. This is a fantastic opportunity to share your expertise, inspire others, and be part of an exciting local fashion show.

We're also inviting fashion designers in West Sussex and Surrey to showcase their work, submitting up to four different designs to be featured in the fashion show.

Over the last 4 weeks, we've been collaborating with LEAP THEN LOOK and Dimensions Outreach 3 Way to play and experiment in the most creative of ways through practical sessions.

From human sculptures, to bamboo structures, to bringing out an OHP projector, the group from Outreach 3 Way have let their inhibitions go and explored their creativity. We cannot thank Graham, Tiff and all the other Support Workers from Dimensions enough for helping us make this happen.

A huge thank you to Bill & Lucy from LEAP THEN LOOK for creating such an inclusive, fun space. Stay tuned, this isn't the last of LEAP THEN LOOK in Crawley...
