The Crawley branch of 'The British Sugarcraft Guild' meets at 7:30pm on the Third Tuesday of each month in the Community room (at the end of the tils) Tesco's Extra Hookwood, Gatwick. The British Sugarcraft Guild is a non-profit organisation dedicated to the promotion of cake decorating and sugarcraft; run by a committee of volunteers elected from the membership, members include hobby cake makers,
home bakers, specialist retailers, manufacturers, and renowned sugarcraft professionals. Established in 1981 by a group of enthusiastic cake decorators who shared a love for the art of sugarcraft and with the motto ‘My craft is my art’, the Guild’s aims are to:

• Develop Talent
• Improve Standards
• Annual Membership is open to everyone with an interest in sugarcraft and cake decorating - ranging from the complete novice through to professionals in their field; everyone can benefit from the sharing and learning experience that BSG membership can bring. Options include: Local Branch Member; UK Individual Member; International Member; and Cygnet Member - for under 18's.
• Sugarcraft News: Members receive the quarterly members’ magazine, and can access ‘The Sugarcraft Lounge’, our online community group for members, with monthly video tutorials and online resources.
• Sugarcraft Insurance: UK resident members who sell their cakes, bakes, and sugarcraft, are offered the opportunity to join our special low-cost insurance scheme for public & products liability cover. A selection of cover options is available.
• Local Branches: We arrange sugarcraft demonstrations, have-a-go sessions, and events each month at local branches around the UK. Meet new friends. Share ideas and skills.
• Activities: The Guild hosts a programme of virtual demonstrations around our Regions & Nationally. We also organise demonstration days, workshops, residential skills schools, and our own exhibitions, as well as trips to other exhibitions and shows. You will find the BSG at many commercial cake shows where we provide demonstrations and hands-on workshops.
• Training: The Guild offers training schemes (developed over 40 years) and accreditation, to members wishing to specialise in sugarcraft demonstrating and judging.
• Area co-ordinator and helpers support branches and members, plus look after these pages and groups. As well as supporting members opening new branches in their region.
