Moving house: exciting in theory… emotionally unhinged in reality.

One minute you’re imagining cosy evenings in your new home, the next you’re rage-cleaning skirting boards while your children throw sticky men at the ceiling and your partner says, “It’ll all work out.”

This honest and humorous blog explores why moving house can put huge pressure on relationships..... from stress and overwhelm to communication breakdowns, resentment, decision fatigue, and the fantasy of running away to live alone in an art studio.

Inside:
✔ Why couples argue more during house moves
✔ The emotional impact of moving home
✔ Tips for staying connected during stressful times
✔ How to avoid letting stress damage your relationship

If moving house is testing your patience, your sanity, or your relationship, this one’s for you.

Father’s Day can bring many different emotions.

For some, it’s a day of celebration and connection.
For others, it may feel difficult, complicated, or reflective.

Today we’re thinking of fathers, stepfathers, grandfathers, father figures, and anyone navigating this day in their own way 💛

“It has been life changing. The ability to speak to someone, who would gently hold me to account, has allowed me regular space to learn about my triggers and allow them to be diluted. The reminder that I hold all the power over my life has been exactly what I needed.” 💚

At Relationships Sussex, counselling can provide the safe, supportive space needed for self-awareness, healing, and personal growth. Our experienced counsellors help clients explore emotions, understand triggers, and build healthier ways to move forward.

With the Summer Solstice coming up let's remind ourselves to slow down and reconnect 🌿

Longer days can create opportunities to spend more intentional time together.... even in small ways.

A conversation.
A walk together.
Putting phones away for an hour.
Checking in properly.

Connection often grows through everyday moments 💛

Living with anxiety can affect both the individual and their relationship. Couples may experience misunderstandings, emotional distance, communication difficulties, and overwhelm.

Supporting a partner with anxiety means finding a balance between being there for them and looking after your own wellbeing too.

✔ Encourage open communication
✔ Reassure without dismissing feelings
✔ Stay connected
✔ Encourage professional support
✔ Remember to care for yourself too

At Relationships Sussex, we’re here to help support individuals and couples navigating anxiety and relationships.
