Whilst the Royal British Legion s Poppy appeal is centred around World War One, it is also our opportunity to Thank all those who have served to keep us safe and free.

The money raised does incredible things for ex service people and their families, please do join us tomorrow or next Monday if you can

Today I saw a man selling poppies stop a lady and asked if he could re position her poppy. While doing so he told that lady she should wear the poppy on their left side; the red represents the blood of all those who gave their lives, the black represents the mourning of those who didn't have their loved ones return home, and the green leaf represents the grass and crops growing and future prosperity after the war destroyed so much. The leaf should be positioned at 11 o'clock to represent the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month, the time that World War One formally ended. He was worried that younger generations wouldn't understand this and his generation wouldn't be around for much longer to teach them. (copy and paste to share just like I did) 🌹 we must remember those from our current wars too!"

Don’t forget we have a busy day on Monday.

In addition to Open House and Food share from 10 am we delighted to host Lisa Evans and the The Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.

We also hope that lots of you will joins us make a Poppy and help us create our remembrance window display.

To manage foot footfall we will be making poppies from 11am and raising funds for both organisations with delicious cakes and treats right through until 2 pm.

All are welcome to any and all.

We have joined forces with through your local Poppy Appeal organiser, Lisa Evans, to help us pay our respects to British servicemen, women, families, and animals everywhere with two very special events.

We kick off half term on

Monday 23rd Oct - Cake and Crafts; join us between 11 am and 2 pm for coffee and cake and help us create a window display to mark Remembrance Sunday by making and adding your poppy.

WE WOULD LOVE AS MANY CHILDREN, FAMILIES AND LOCAL PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE TO JOIN US AND ADD TO THE DISPLAY.

On

Monday 2nd Nov - We would love anyone with service memories, and anyone who would like to hear them, to come along from 10 am but also join us for afternoon tea at 1pm. Just £5 / person, please drop us a message, or call into the building to book.

Lisa will be with us both days to give you the opportunity to purchase your poppies.

All funds raised from the coffee and cakes and afternoon teas will be split between and the RBL

Friday already !

So tomorrow we have

Open house from 10 am

Chair / Gentle Yoga from 10.30 am, £5 / person

Lunch is chicken Fillet burger and chips followed by sticky toffee pudding - £7.50 / person, £3 / child under 10. Please arrive by 12 for lunch at 12.30.

All are welcome, if you don’t want to join in with yoga, fear not you can still call in for a cuppa and a chat.

Cllr Josh Dickin, working for the Craven Arms Division will be with us and we also have food share until 1 pm and again from 5pm until 7pm

Please remember that :

The food is equally split the morning and evening sessions

We refresh at 11am and nothing different is put out so

1 ) You don’t need to queue, it is not first come first served and

2 ) When the food is refreshed you don’t need to go around again, you haven’t missed anything

If everyone only takes their fair share and what they need or can use and everyone respects the traffic light system, no one should miss out.

As always we ask you donate what you can under the following guideline

• Emergency Tier (£0 or spare change): "For those facing a tough week; it could be anyone of us at anytime. Please take what you need."

• Sustainability Tier (£3 – £5): "Covers the basic running costs of the food you are taking."

• Supporter Tier (£5+): "Covers your food and helps subsidise a bag for a neighbour in crisis."
