🎶 As Gramophone turns the spotlight on the artists behind this year’s final in a newly released feature on our Annual Music Competition, the individual journeys shaping the Gold Medal Final are explored through artist interviews.

Centred on the upcoming 74th Gold Medal Final, the article brings together the voices of four finalists, each reflecting on a journey shaped not only by performance but also by a process of self-discovery.

Across the interviews, the competition is revealed as a space where artistic identity is refined, where repertoire becomes personal and programming a means of storytelling.

From works conceived as tribute and remembrance to carefully curated selections that articulate individual perspectives, each programme offers a distinct insight into the artist behind it.

Together, they form a portrait of a generation defined by authenticity, where individuality is not only encouraged but essential.

At Wigmore Hall on 15 May, these narratives move beyond the page and into performance, where four musicians converge in our Gold Medal Final, bringing the competition to its full expression.
