Update ….. this little lady is enjoying belly rubs in her new home! X

Meet this gorgeous chocolate princess who is looking for her forever home

Her current family have a new baby on the way and, as life gets busier, she’s simply not getting the attention she absolutely loves. We all understand how family circumstances can change, and sometimes making the hardest decision is also the kindest one

Now… she’s a proper chocolate Labrador! She likes children, is good with other dogs, loves to play and is full of that wonderful Lab enthusiasm for life

On walks she can be a little enthusiastic on the lead to begin with (those exciting smells won’t sniff themselves! 😂), but soon settles. Her recall is… well… let’s just say it’s classic Labrador! She can come back… eventually… usually via every interesting hedge, blade of grass and scenic sniffing route available! 🤣 she probably just needs a little training, consistency and routine

She’s 4 years old, which is such a lovely age, past the puppy chaos but still young, fun and full of life

She isn’t spayed… tut tut! 😆 But no judgement here. Because of that, though, we would like her to be the only dog in the home for obvious reasons

And before anyone asks… no, she’s not called Cadbury, Coco, Galaxy or Wispa! 😜

We don’t know how she is with cats as she hasn’t been cat tested (to our knowledge)

Well… thank you so much for all your amazing donations. Whether large or small, we truly appreciate every single pound that’s been given

We absolutely recognise that a £1 or £5 donation deserves just as much appreciation as a larger one as every contribution matters and means a great deal to us

We would also like to give a special mention to the incredibly generous individual who made such a significant contribution. Your kindness has made a huge difference and genuinely moved us, so much so that Maggie nearly fell off her chair! It caused more excitement than a bag of treats at Labrador Rescue HQ

Hello lovely supporters and followers

We’ve got one of those grown-up bills to pay… yes, it’s our insurance bill. Not quite as exciting as new tennis balls, comfy beds, or emergency vet care, but just as important

Like any household, we have those boring but necessary expenses

And while we would much rather spend your generous donations on the dogs themselves, vet care, food, rehabilitation, and yes… the occasional ice cream, these behind-the-scenes costs keep everything running safely

We know times are challenging, but if anyone is able to help with even a small donation, we would be incredibly grateful

Special Home Needed for a Special Boy

Sometimes we bend our own rules… and this is one of those times

As many of you know, we normally only support pure Labradors, but every now and then a little soul comes along who just needs a bit of help, understanding, and a fresh start. This lovely lad is a Spaniel x Lab (not a cross dog… just a cross breed! 😉) and we simply couldn’t turn him away

This handsome 4-year-old boy is affectionate, cuddly, playful and loves nothing more than his ball, water, and a comfy bed for a snooze. He is very food-motivated (well… he is half Labrador!) eager to learn, and forms lovely bonds once he gets to know you

However, we want to be honest and open, this will be his third home, and we absolutely must get this right for him. He deserves stability and the chance to finally settle without wondering if life means moving from home to home again

The good news is that this will be his only move through Labrador Rescue Kent, and we take that responsibility very seriously (with a sprinkle of Labrador Rescue magic thrown in). We are quietly confident that, together, we can find him the right home, the one where he can finally unpack his imaginary suitcase that would be full of balls and dog treats

Because of this, we are looking for a calm, understanding home where:

He can be the only pet

No young children (older dog-savvy teenagers 16+ considered)

A quiet home environment, perhaps a retired couple or someone home much of the time would be ideal

Someone patient who will allow him time to settle and build trust

He can be (most likely) a little unsure at first and may (will!) get excited when visitors arrive, but once he knows you, he’s a sweet, affectionate and loyal companion. He enjoys his walks, though recall needs work (he follows his nose!), and he may (will 😊) pull on the lead when excited, but these are all things that can hopefully improve with consistency and kindness

He has clearly got those typical Labrador and Spaniel traits… thank heavens he’s not ⅓ Lab, ⅓ Spaniel and ⅓ Greyhound or we really would have a job on our hands!

He is also neutered and vaccinated

Now, he does have some mild allergies which are reportedly well managed with diet and ear drops

This is a lovely dog who just needs the right people, patient, kind, and committed to giving him the settled life he deserves and the last home he will ever need

Applicants must be based in Kent or East Sussex (or very, very close surrounding areas)

Meet Our Very Own ‘Houdini’ (not his real name 😊)

Well… we do always say there’s never a dull moment in rescue and this handsome chap is here to prove it!

Let us introduce our very own Houdini… a 3-year-old Silver Labrador with charm, character, and a rather impressive talent for… shall we say… creative problem solving

Yes, this big, strong boy has been known to clear the garden fence. We are not entirely sure whether he is part Labrador, part kangaroo, or secretly training for the Dog Olympics, but what we do know is that life with him will certainly never be boring 😊

This lovely lad is energetic, intelligent, and full of enthusiasm for life. He is the sort of dog who wakes up in the morning ready for adventure, whether that’s a long countryside walk, learning new things, or simply supervising your every move

Because of his energy levels (and his impressive athletic ability), he is not suitable as a first dog. He will need an experienced owner who enjoys training, structure, and an active lifestyle

In return, you will get a loyal, loving companion with personality in abundance

From the information we have:

He is 3 years old
He is good with children, but due to his size and exuberance we would recommend only older, dog-savvy children

He is good with other dogs but again, due to his size and exuberance we would recommend that he is the only pet

He is strong, energetic, and very clever

He would likely suit a home with secure outdoor space and an active lifestyle

His current family care very much about him, but due to changes in circumstances and time constraints, he simply isn’t getting the attention and activity he needs and this boy really does thrive when he has something to do and someone to do it with

He is the kind of dog who will keep you on your toes, make you laugh daily, and turn every walk into an adventure. If you are looking for a quiet, sleepy companion… he is probably not for you, but if you are looking for fun, character, and a dog who will keep life interesting, then Houdini might just be your perfect match

Applicants must live in Kent or East Sussex

Secure garden or safe outdoor space required (and possibly a tape measure for those fences 😉)

Update Monday 30th March

As no suitable homes have come forward for this handsome chap, he’s off to some new surroundings tomorrow for an assessment and a chance to experience something a bit different and so he’s not in kennels without a plan whilst waiting for a new home.

We are not going anywhere, just making sure we are doing everything we can to help him thrive and be the very best version of himself. He’s a lovely boy, and this is simply another step on his journey with lots of love and support behind him.

Tuesday 24th March

Our gorgeous chocolate boy and our young yellow lad have both had lots of interest and are currently provisionally reserved, subject to the usual checks, home visits, and making sure everyone is the perfect match

A huge thank you to everyone who has expressed interest, shared their posts, and sent them good luck, it really does mean the world to us

But while we are celebrating some happy news… there’s also a little bit of a sad one

Our 4-year-old yellow boy is still sitting in kennels, wondering when it’s going to be his turn

He is a handsome chap with a lovely, sweet temperament, the kind of dog you can easily imagine stretched out beside the fireplace, or curled up on the sofa after a nice walk

He will need a little polishing, some training, a routine, and someone willing to show him the ropes, but underneath it all is a genuinely lovely dog just waiting for his chance, and he is feeling very sorry for himself right now

Alright… maybe a little more polishing than he would like to admit, but he’s a bright boy and eager to please, and with a bit of patience and guidance he would soon shine. And we promise, he will be more than worth it

Kennels are no place for a boy like him, and we would love nothing more than to see him off to his new forever home

Could you be the one to give him that chance?

Could you picture this handsome lad beside your fireplace… or gently snoring on your sofa? (There is no greater sound than a content Labrador snoring!)

Did someone order a chocolate Easter bunny?

Well… we can’t quite deliver that, but we can offer you a rather handsome chocolate Easter Labrador instead and what a little character he is

This big, glossy lad is strong, affectionate, and charming in his own wonderfully goofy way. The kind of dog who grows on you instantly and then takes up permanent residence in your heart (and probably your sofa if you let him)

Now, like any young chap, this lad has a playful streak. Let’s just say he occasionally forgets he’s not pocket sized and gets a little overexcited in the most endearing way. Because of this, he needs to be the only dog in the home, where he can soak up all the attention (and give it right back)

He hasn’t been cat tested, but given his enthusiasm for life, your resident cat might suddenly discover a passion for travel… and move in with your neighbours 😊so we would suggest no cats please

He likes children (but has not lived with small children) however, due to his size and energy, he is better suited to a home without very young ones, purely to avoid any accidental ‘knocking over’ incidents during his playful moments

• Healthy, happy, and full of life
• Unneutered
• Crate-trained and sleeps well at night
• Not a fan of stairs (he prefers to keep all four paws firmly on the ground!)
• Strong on the lead, will need someone confident and able to handle him

This boy is a lovely, kind hearted dog who deserves a home where he can get the exercise, guidance, and adventures he needs to truly thrive

Finding the right home matters enormously to us here at LRK and we rehome from home to home, so detailed applications really help. They allow us to play matchmaker (and Maggie takes this role very seriously… think Cupid, but with a dog bone shaped clipboard) but please remember that we only cover Kent & East Sussex and so please do not apply if you live outside of these areas

A secure garden or safe outdoor space is also an essential requirement for all the dogs that come through us

And finally…

Please only call between 9am–7pm as Maggie, our Chief Adopter, handles everything herself, one call, one email, one cup of tea at a time so if she doesn’t answer immediately, she’s probably mid negotiation with a Labrador wanting to play, or trying to remember what day it is. Well… a little update from us…

Our fox red boy has now headed off to his new home, which means our focus now turns to the two golden boys… and oh my word…

These two have now been assessed and we can officially confirm…
They are absolutely lovely boys with fantastic temperaments..

Friendly, affectionate, and full of joy

BUT…

Imagine a Labrador…

Powered by a Duracell battery…

Now imagine it’s not one of those bargain £1 shop batteries that gives up after ten mins!

No no… these two are running on the full premium, supercharged, industrial-strength version 😄

They are happy… lively… VERY lively… and completely ready to explore every inch of the world around them (and your house and garden)

What They Need

These boys will need:

• Two separate homes
• Experienced owners who understand energetic Labradors
• Time, training, routine and structure

They are very much ‘projects’ in the best possible way, work in progress, full of potential, and absolutely worth the investment.

Think of it as:

You aren’t getting the finished article… But you would be getting the joy of helping them become it

At the moment, we suspect their ‘off switch’ is either:

• Still in the packaging somewhere
• Hidden very, very well

😆But with the right guidance, consistency, and a bit of patience, these boys are likely to turn into truly fantastic companions.

And Just Look At Those Faces…

Honestly… they are gorgeous, full of character, and already stealing hearts.

• Lively
• Characterful
• Slightly bonkers (in the best Labrador way)
