Crail Community Council The general purpose of a Community Council is to work with local authorities, such as Fife Council, in the best interests of the town and community.

This role of the Royal Burgh of Crail Community council is to:
1) ascertain, co-ordinate and express to Fife Council as the Local Authority for its area, and to other public authorities, the views of the community which it represents in relation to matters for which those authorities are responsible
2) make known within the community such information as may be received from Fife Council and other public authorities
3) take such action in the interests of that community as appears to it to be expedient and practicable. The Council shall be non-party in politics and non-discriminatory and shall represent all persons in its area. The community council is made up of elected volunteers who live and work in Crail.

Reporting Concerns & Antisocial Behaviour in Our Community

Concerns about antisocial behaviour, nuisance, disorder or other community safety issues should be reported to the appropriate authorities.

Reporting incidents helps ensure that concerns are properly recorded, assessed and followed up. Even if you feel that an individual incident may seem minor, reporting patterns of behaviour can help build a clearer picture of what is happening within our community.

The Safer Communities Team works closely with Police Scotland and partner organisations to help address community safety concerns and support safer, stronger communities.

If you witness or experience antisocial behaviour, please report it through the appropriate channels.⁰

🚨 In an emergency or if there is an immediate risk to someone’s safety, call 999.

For non-emergency matters, please report them to Police Scotland on 101 or through the safer community team.

Pupils, parents, carers and school staff are being invited to have their say on proposals to limit the use of personal smart devices in Fife schools.

The consultation, which is now open and runs until 3 November 2026, gives school communities the opportunity to help shape a future Fife-wide approach to the use of smartphones, smart watches and other personal smart devices during the school day.

The consultation follows a report to Fife Council's Education Scrutiny Committee which outlined work undertaken to explore the potential for phone-free schools across Fife and recommended wider engagement with learners and families before any decisions are made.

Fife Council's Education Directorate is seeking views on three possible approaches:

• In-class restrictions - personal smart devices switched off and out of sight during lessons, with controlled access possible at break and lunch times.
• Bell-to-bell restrictions - personal smart devices switched off and out of use throughout the entire school day, including intervals and lunch breaks.
• No personal smart devices in school - devices not brought into school except where an agreed exemption applies.

The consultation has been informed by research, Scottish Government guidance, engagement with school leaders and professional associations, and a review of approaches being used by other local authorities.

We are reviewing part of the Scheme for the Establishment of Community Councils. We have already consulted at length but we are currently reviewing section 13 of the Scheme relating to the
Annual Administration Grant. This part will consider recommendations for co production and future sustainable funding models for community councils. In addition, a small number of governance amendments are also proposed to improve the clarity and effectiveness of the Scheme.
