Loughshore Access and Community Enterprise is a new social economy business that aims to deliver a broad range of sustainable health, community and socio-economic initiatives across the whole South Lough Neagh area. It includes the three local government wards; The Birches, Derrytrasna and Aghagallon. LACE will direct its services to those who would not normally be able to access or afford them, s
uch as those from socio-economic deprived groups or those socially excluded because of physical or intellectual ability, age, ethic origin, or religious or cultural beliefs. LACE will enable services such as childcare to be delivered locally, encouraging people to remain in and work in the rural area. LACE will also provide work experience opportunities and participation for volunteer workers. It aims to provide local people with skills, capabilities and confidence which will enhance employment prospects. LACE aims to create jobs for people who would otherwise be unemployed; providing vital services for people who might not access them otherwise; protecting the environment and reinvesting surpluses back into community projects.
