Citypark Parkrun #620 Run report- 13 Jun 2026
Thankfully this morning remained dry if a bit breezy and overcast.
Thanks also to all our volunteers today. We were well covered on volunteers today but in recent times we have struggled so we would appreciate extra help to ensure we have the roster filled comfortably ahead of Saturday. We always appreciate new faces to help out and no prior experience needed. If you can help us at any future event please contact us at [email protected].
Thanks to all who continue to help us by parking at either the Civic Centre or Rushmere. It’s encouraging to see the Civic Centre car park being more and more. This greatly helps the team at SLLC who help us out a great deal behind the scenes.
Congratulations to Wendy McShane who completed her 350th Parkrun today.
Also congratulations to the Southern Trust Couch to 5k group who ran their graduation run this morning. Well done to each participant and we hope to see you back soon.
As mentioned at the Run Directors briefing, this weekend marks the 1 millionth Parkrun. What an incredible achievement. Please see below the memo from Parkrun HQ to mark the occasion:
On Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 June:
* This weekend parkrun will host its 1 millionth ever event.
* Since the first event in 2004, people have gone through a finish funnel 138 million times and volunteered on more than 16 million occasions.
* parkrun is a charity that believes in the power of community, empowering people through shared movement, every weekend. Every year more and more people sign up to parkrun who were previously inactive, more people come from the lowest socio economic groups. People can take part in prisons, people are prescribed parkrun by their GPs, and more than 2000 primary schools are twinned with a local junior parkrun. parkrun is truly changing the world and we invite you to help support the weekly events that you love so that they can continue to deliver the next million events and beyond. And reach more and more of these people with the most to gain from the parkrun magic.
* Thanks a million to all of the volunteers, runners, walkers that have joined us. And, thanks to all the donors, land owners and commercial partners, and everyone that makes parkrun happen, and to all of you here today.
We had a total of 364 runners and walkers who came along today. Thanks to all who came and hope you enjoyed your morning!
