Welcome to Cowes WI part of the National Federation of Women’s Institutes (NFWI), the largest voluntary organisation for women in the UK, with 210,000 members in England Wales and the Islands. The WI plays a unique role in providing women with educational opportunities and the chance to build new skills to take part in a wide variety of activities and to campaign on issues that matter to them and their communities. Out came our 'posh' clothes and hats as we celebrated our 16th Birthday tonight. Ladies day at Ascot was the theme with Wonky Races. Such fun with the jockeys doing their best to try and come first. The buffet, prepared by the committee, broke the evening up before more races, the horse raffle and prizes for the best hat were given out. Great evening , even Cowslip & Cowpat put on their finery.

14 of us along with Coweslip & Cowpat, back from their trip away, met at the Phenix cafe, Gurnard Pines today. We usually meet on a Friday but as we have our party tomorrow we decided on today, can't do two things in one day! As usual we left one of our 'giveaways' behind.

Cowes W.I. next meeting is September 28th 7.30 @ Cowes Football Club, our speaker will be telling us all about Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. You are welcome to join us, please bring a mug for hot drink, some cash for the raffle, and your sense of humour. We do ask Ladies not to arrive before 7.15, thank you.
