Cowes Sailability Club

Cowes Sailability Club Our aim is to put smiles on faces. Our Club was set up to give people with disabilities the opportunity to go out on the water.

Cowes Sailability Club is a registered charity that offers sailing and recreational boating opportunities for adults and children with physical disabilities, learning difficulties and debilitating long term conditions. We have been going for 15 years and welcome new members and volunteers.

Did you know that Cowes Sailability Club offers payable trips on The Spirit of Scott Bader?

She is an eleven metre Catamaran particularly suited to wheelchair users. She will take up to 8 people, excluding skipper and mate, can accommodate a maximum of 4 wheelchairs, has easy access ramps on either side from the pontoon and an electric lift between the main deck and the accommodation and heads below.

The main deck, which is on one level, allows free movement and includes a wide screened helm station where wheelchair users can get close to the action if they so wish. She will cruise under sail or power at the discretion of the skipper, depending on the conditions at the time.

All Disabled Sailors Association skippers have first aid qualifications to deal with medical accidents.
Personal medical requirements are the responsibility of the voyager and it is vital that skippers are informed of any medical condition that might affect performance (e.g. possibility of fits) and what and where medication is kept.
If assistance is needed for personal hygiene a carer is required.

Come and join us on a morning, afternoon or full day trip this year. As last year all sailings will take place from East Cowes Marina. The next trips are:

Wednesday 10th June Half day 10am-12.30pm 5 spaces left
