UKSA As a youth charity & maritime training academy, we believe in the power of the sea to change lives. Sea. Change. Careers.

We use the power of the sea to transform the lives of thousands of people each year. We provide life-changing opportunities to schools and groups, disadvantaged young people, and young offenders. We challenge them to transform and create opportunities for themselves. We are the world’s largest provider of marine training, from watersports instructors through to officers working on large vessels. We are proud of the large number of students who leave us to go on to a lifetime of opportunity.

You could turn your passion for sailing into a career on the water in just SIX DAYS!

Our RYA Dinghy Instructor course is designed for experienced sailors ready to take the next step, gaining a recognised teaching qualification that opens doors to instructing and inspiring others.

To enrol, you'll need to:
✅ Be aged 16 or over
✅ Hold RYA Powerboat Level 2
✅ Have a valid first aid certificate
✅ Hold an RYA Safe and Fun certificate
✅ Pass a pre-entry sailing assessment (included on day one at UKSA)

October half-term = more time on the water 🌊

From 19–30 October, UKSA is running a packed programme of Fun Days, Seasonal Activity Camps and Dinghy Sailing courses for children and teens.

Whether they’re trying watersports for the first time or building on their sailing skills, there’s plenty to get stuck into, including kayaking, paddleboarding, windsurfing, keelboating, raft building, team games, crabbing and more.

There are options for ages 8-11, 12-15 and older teens aged 15-17, plus structured five-day dinghy courses for those looking to progress their sailing skills.

🐝 Polly’s Fund is also available for eligible Isle of Wight children, offering a fully funded week of activities for eligible yr 5 & 6 students with just a £20 contribution to secure the place.

And for Island residents, there’s £20 off non-residential sailing courses.

It was fantastic to welcome our first cohort onto UKSA’s new RYA Yachtmaster Power, Prep & Exam course last week. 🚤

And just look at the training yacht they get to learn on 👀

Our Jeanneau Prestige 460 gives students the chance to build confidence on a modern 14.29m motor yacht, developing practical boat handling, navigation and real-world decision-making in the Solent.

Over the seven-day course, students complete five days of intensive practical preparation before sitting their two-day RYA Yachtmaster Coastal or Offshore practical exam with an independent RYA examiner.

Designed for experienced mariners looking to progress, the course is ideal for superyacht deckhands preparing for promotion, commercial mariners working towards officer-level qualifications, and Yachtmaster Sail holders looking to convert to motor.

A brilliant first week for a brand-new course, and a very nice office for the week too. 🙌
