Do you want to join us in making a difference? As a group we are walking the length of Lake Malawi to raise money in aid of Beath Malawi Partnership and every donation will help. The money we raise will go towards scholarships for learners in Malawi who cannot afford to go to secondary school, or to pay the fees for a specialist school for learners who have additional support need.
Here is the GoFundMe link https://gofund.me/fd425836 and thank you in advance for your contribution.

As well as supporting the three children from Njale who are deaf, we are also supporting 10 students from Mapanga and Njale through Secondary School. Although primary schooling is free, Secondary Schools usually have to be paid for especially as the student has to board. Often school is a long way from home. Here is a link to a Sway presentation showing you of our work in Malawi and some of our scholarship students.

For over 10 years Beath High has linked with Malawi, and for the past 6 has developed and sustained a vibrant partnership with Njale and Mapanga Primary Schools. Our schools are in the south of Malawi

Three children from our partner school, Njale Primary School, were not able to access an education. All three are deaf. They have now started at a fairly local school, Mountain View School for the Deaf where they are learning Malawi Sign Language. The Beath Malawi Partnership are supporting these three children at their new school. Mountain View school, children and staff, have (but also need more) special PPE so that the deaf can access their language and keep safe at school.

Coronavirus has reached Malawi one of the last countries to be affected. On 7 April Malawi’s Ministry of Health announced the country’s first coronavirus death.
Malawi, one of the world's poorest country, has declared a state of emergency. All social gatherings of more than 100 people, such as funerals, church services and political rallies, have been banned.
Just like for us washing hands is one of the key strategies for stopping the spread of coronavirus.
Some of the families of learners at our partner schools of Njale and Mapanga cannot afford to buy soap. We are going to shortly start fundraising for this. We have calculated that £500 will be enough to be able to give soap to the vunerable families. Please keep your eye on this page for when we can start the fundraising.

A while ago we asked for donations for school uniforms. Both schools were finding that there were learners who would not come to school because they could not afford a school uniform. Here are photos of the taylor busy at work and the happy recipients and teachers at Mapanga school.

Thank you to the staff and the generous customers of Iceland Foods, Cowdenbeath. We bag packed after school during the last week of term and most of the day yesterday. Yesterday alone raised over £100.
This is following a very successful cake sale at school which raised over £200.
All money will go towards the learners at our partner schools in Malawi, and to our pupils here at Beath High School who are saving hard and looking forward to meeting new friends in Malawi in 2021.

🇲🇼 Today our upper classes had a visit from some pupils and Mr Mitchell. They learned about the Malawi partnership, it was an eye opening assembly.

Great to see some former pupils involved in this initiative too!
