An amazing day for KJKW at the Karate Wales Open, with 40+ competitors representing us!!
We were treated to outstanding performances, including from several competitors stepping onto the tatami for the first time.
Huge congratulations to everyone who placed, and to every single competitor who showed courage, spirit and respect throughout the day.
A special mention to Sempai Vince, who took silver in pairs kata alongside Sensei Jim — and did so as the oldest competitor in the tournament. An incredible achievement.
We were also very proud to hear such positive comments from the tournament organiser and control table about how respectful our area was, including both competitors and judges - a reflection of the values shown by KJKW and Seishin Kyokushinkai – Blackwood throughout the event.

Huge thanks to everyone involved in another fantastic KJKW camp marking 40 years since our club was founded and 30 years us of being an independent organisation.
Congratulations to everyone on their efforts this weekend, especially those who attained new grades including, of course, brilliant new black belts Megan and Izzy.
Back to the dojos now to prepare for the next one (October 17/18).

PS Those who are now blue belt (8th kyu) are welcome/encouraged to attend the Tuesday evening kata session at Cowbridge Leisure Centre 6-7pm. Hopefully we’ll be able to fit everyone in!
