🌍❀️ WHAT A DAY! GRAND CHOSAN DAY 2026 ❀️🌍

We honestly don't know where to start!

What a fabulous, fantastic, vibrant and beautiful day for multicultural Coventry! πŸŽ‰

Grand Chosan Day 2026 was more than we ever expected.

The atmosphere was incredible. The children performed, danced, played, laughed and proudly showcased their talents and cultures. Our Masquerade (Zimba) entertained everyone; the food was beautiful, different community groups came together, and families travelled from Coventry, Birmingham, London and across the country to celebrate with us.

We were honoured to welcome:

❀️ Councillor Seyi Agboola
❀️ Adrienne and Natalie Burchell from Coventry City Council Community Resilience Team
❀️ Our Yayi Chosan – Aunty Fatou Mbatch
❀️ Our Magi Chosan – Aunty Aisha Farage
❀️ Pa Salieu – Chosan Children's Ambassador
❀️ Counsellor Sainey Barrow – Gambian High Commission
❀️ All our wonderful Aunties, community groups, guests, parents, volunteers and supporters
❀️ And everyone who travelled to be with us.

A special thank you to the parents, aunties, uncles, NAS and the group for joining us and helping make the day even more multicultural and vibrant. 🌍🀝

But above all...

❀️ THE CHILDREN WERE THE HEART OF CHOSAN ❀️

Seeing them perform, dance, play, make friends and proudly celebrate their heritage reminded us exactly why Chosan CIC was created.

We started with a dream of creating something positive for children in our community.

Today, we saw that dream come alive.

And we are incredibly proud to say that Chosan is no longer just something the adults organise β€” our children are beginning to take ownership of Chosan themselves.

They are inviting their friends.
They are reminding their parents.
They are asking questions.
They are spreading the word.
They are becoming part of the future of Chosan.

That is the real success story. ❀️

We are also incredibly grateful for the support of The National Lottery Community Fund, whose funding is helping Chosan CIC continue providing cultural, educational and creative opportunities for children and families.

This was more than an event.

It was culture.
It was family.
It was friendship.
It was unity.
It was community.

And most importantly...

IT WAS CHOSAN! πŸŒβ€οΈπŸŽ‰

Thank you Coventry.
Thank you to everyone who travelled.
Thank you to every parent.
Thank you to every volunteer.
Thank you to every child.
Thank you to everyone who believed in our dream.

The journey continues...

πŸŒ±πŸ… Another Wonderful Chosan CIC Workshop! πŸŒΏπŸ’š

Our "Garden to Plate – Grow β€’ Learn β€’ Cook β€’ Share" workshop was a fantastic success and a wonderful reminder that children are naturally curious when given the opportunity to explore.

The children proudly brought herbs, vegetables, fruits and even seeds from home to share with their friends. They confidently explained what they had brought, where it grows, how it is used and why it is good for our health. It was inspiring to see them teaching one another and asking thoughtful questions.

One of the highlights of the day was planting seeds together in the garden. Watching the children carefully prepare the soil and plant their seeds showed just how interested they are in protecting the environment and learning where their food comes from.

Of course, it wouldn't be Chosan CIC without bringing everyone together! Families enjoyed our community barbecue, shared healthy food, laughed, played games and created more wonderful memories.

Our aim has always been to provide children with experiences that build confidence, curiosity and a sense of responsibility. This workshop did exactly that. The children left excited to continue growing plants at home and to learn even more about healthy eating and caring for our planet.

A huge thank you to every parent who brought herbs, vegetables, fruits, seeds and food for the barbecue, and to everyone who helped make the day another huge success.

Together we are growing more than plantsβ€”we are growing confident, caring and environmentally aware young people.

🌳 Pride. Heritage. Community.

πŸŒžπŸŽ‰ You're Invited to Chosan CIC's June Cultural Workshop! πŸŽ‰πŸŒž

✨ Socialisation of Sharing – Food, Toys & Games ✨

Do you remember the days before smartphones and social media, when children gathered outside to play, share food, laugh and make lifelong memories?

This month, Chosan CIC is bringing those wonderful memories back!

We want our children to experience the joy of simple living, friendship and community by recreating the traditional neighbourhood gatherings many of us grew up with across Africa.

🧺 Every child is invited to bring one small item to share with their friends. It could be:
πŸ› Cooked food
πŸ₯ͺ Sandwiches
🍎 Fruit
🍬 Sweets
🍦 Ice lollies
πŸ₯€ Drinks
🧸 A favourite toy or simple game

Together we'll enjoy:
🎢 Music
🧺 Picnic-style sharing
🀝 Friendship and teamwork
🎲 Traditional games
πŸ’š A fun afternoon away from screens

πŸ•› Time: 12:00pm – 3:00pm
πŸ“ Venue: At the back of 257 Tarquin Close, Coventry, CV3 3BU

Our aim is simple: to show our children that you don't need to be rich to enjoy life. Some of the happiest memories come from sharing what we have, spending time together and building friendships.

Everyone is welcome! Bring your family, bring your smile and let's make wonderful memories together.

πŸŒžπŸ’š Another Incredible Chosan CIC Workshop! πŸ’šπŸŒž

Our June Cultural Workshop, "✨ Socialisation of Sharing – Food, Toys & Games ✨", was an amazing success and one that will stay in our memories for a long time.

With the beautiful sunshine on us, we recreated the simple joys of childhood that so many of us remember from growing up in Africa. The gazebo was up, the music was playing, and children gathered together to share food, drinks, toys and games just as we used to do.

The picnic was full of laughter, friendship and community spirit. It was wonderful to see children happily sharing with one another, making new friends and learning that the greatest happiness doesn't come from having the mostβ€”it comes from sharing what you have.

A huge thank you goes to all the parents who generously contributed cooked food, sandwiches, snacks, cakes, sweets, ice cream, ice lollies and drinks. Your kindness and generosity made the day truly special.

A very special thank you to our wonderful host, Aunty Fatou Mbatch, for welcoming us and helping make the day such a fantastic success.

One of our proudest moments was seeing the children begin to take ownership of Chosan CIC. They are now asking when the next workshop will be, inviting their friends, reminding their parents, and proudly spreading the word about Chosan CIC. That has always been our visionβ€”to create a programme that truly belongs to the children and the community.

Together, we are building more than monthly workshopsβ€”we are building confidence, friendships, cultural pride, leadership and a strong sense of belonging.

Thank you to everyone who attended and supported us. We can't wait to see you all at our next Chosan CIC workshop!
