Last week we took a trip to Coombe Abbey for a guided sensory tour. Our users got to smell flowers, touch trees and even eat some leaves, all under the guidance of our wonderful tour guide, Micheal.

Everyone enjoyed themselves and the weather gods were on side.

NATIONWIDE IN BROADGATE RECEIVES FIRST SHINE AWARD!
Coventry Vision Hub has handed its first ever Shine Award to the Broadgate branch of the Nationwide, to recognise the staff there for providing outstanding support to their visually impaired customers.
The branch was nominated by Constance Samuriwo, who uses CVH regularly, to thank them for helping her to do her banking with dignity and independence. She said: “From the moment I walk into the branch with my white stick to when I go out, the staff give me all the help I need. I feel valued and so happy I can do what I need to easily.”
The Shine Award, devised by CVH staff member Chris Norman, aims to promote best practice by companies, shops and organisations in helping visually impaired people access their services. Chris said: "When things are wrong, we are all too quick to point them out. This is a way to celebrate when things go right. Being blind myself I recognise the importance of people going above and beyond to be helpful. It makes situations that could be extremely difficult so much easier.”
Shine Awards are only given by Coventry Vision Hub to organisations nominated by its service users. More nominations are in and we look forward to recognising more outstanding support.

He did it!! Sam Young finished the London Marathon yesterday in a personal best time of 3hrs 56 mins, under the 4 hours he was aiming for. Well done Sam - we are very proud of you, and thank you so much for fundraising for Coventry Vision Hub.

Can you help get Sam to his £2000 fundraising target? He's raised a fantastic £1874 right now, so a few extra donations would ump his total up!
