President’s Charity Appeal 2026

This year, our club is proud to support an important cause: Personalised immunotherapy for head & neck cancer. Under the leadership of our President, Dr Shashi Prasad, we are raising £5,000 to help advance research, improve access to treatment, and support patients and families affected by these
challenging cancers.

As Lions, our purpose is to serve with compassion and commitment. Personalised immunotherapy represents a promising step forward in the fight against head & neck cancer. Your support will help bring hope, progress and strength to those who need it most.

People could get checks for brain, heart and lung health, plus advice based on their results. It involved:
1. Basic health checks: Pulse rate, oxygen levels, blood pressure, height, weight and BMI.
2. Thinking and memory checks, including dementia screening.
3. Results card to take home.
4. Simple advice on food and lifestyle.
5. Information and signposting to local support, plus “Messageinabottle”.

Twenty- eight people attended. At least 38% had factors predisposing to a higher risk of dementia.
