Lions Club Of Coventry Godiva Lions are men and women who volunteer their time for humanitarian causes. Founded in 1917 by Melvin J Our club was founded in May 1994 by a group of 20 members.

Lions Club of Coventry Godiva is part of the International Association of Lions Clubs which is the largest service organisation in the world with a membership of over 1.4 million spread across 200 countries and geographical regions. We are a registered Charity and all the Godiva Lions members give their time on voluntary basis. We hold events, run raffles and solicit donations so we can provide funds for causes and in communities locally and internationally. Being part of the Lions family and the network of clubs throughout the globe, Godiva Lion members strive to help those in need, with resources for healthcare, education, food provision as well as disaster relief. Since the formation of our club, we have made many donations to organisations in the UK and abroad. In the past 28 years, the club has gone from strength to strength, and is now one of the most active and successful in the Lions District 105M.

Supporting Our Community and Those in Need!

Our October business meeting was a special occasion, as we were able to celebrate our continued commitment to helping people both locally and internationally.

We were delighted to have raised a substantial amount in support of the LCIF Nepal and Tibet Floods Appeal. During the meeting, a cheque for £5,000 was presented to District Lion Secretary Lion Stu Young and Zone Chair Lion Sally Roberts. This donation will support the appeal’s efforts to assist communities affected by the devastating floods in Nepal and Tibet.

On the same day, we were also pleased to present a cheque for £500 to Coventry Haven, supporting the valuable work they do in helping those in need within our local community.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to everyone who contributed to these worthy causes. These donations reflect the true spirit of Lions, bringing people together to make a positive difference both locally and around the world.

Together, we are proud to serve our communities and make a difference where it matters most.

World Sight Day | 8th October l

Today, Lions Club of Coventry Godiva proudly launched our Vision Screening Programme as part of the Lions Clubs International initiative to promote healthy vision in children.

We were delighted to begin at St Christopher Community Primary School, Coventry, screening the vision of the school’s 4 year olds.

Many childhood vision problems can go unnoticed, yet early detection can make a significant difference to a child’s learning and development. Our touchless digital screening helps identify children who may need further professional assessment.
It was a wonderful and rewarding experience for all of us.

A special thank you to District Secretary Lion Stu Young for his invaluable support in helping us launch this important initiative. Also thanks to all the Lions who gave their valuable time to this important initiative.

Together, we can help children see clearly and learn confidently.

On Sunday 4th October, our Lions Club of Coventry Godiva, in association with Midland Langar Seva Society (MLSS), conducted our monthly Community Homeless Feed.

We served freshly prepared lentil daal with rice, along with cake, crisps, chocolates and bottled water.

Today’s feed was proudly sponsored by Lion Billy Ghatora and Family.
We were pleased to support 158 service users today.

A special thank you to Lion John Matharu for his continued support, and a huge thank you to Lion Stu Young from for their very generous donation of 1,800 bottles of water for our feed and MLSS.

We would also like to thank Surinder Virdee from MLSS for his support and assistance.

Another successful community event, made possible through the dedication and generosity of our Lions, partners and volunteers. ❤️

🎶 Harmonies for Healing | Our First Fundraising Event of the Lion Year 🦁

What an incredible way to begin our Lion Year!

Our first fundraising event, Harmonies for Healing, was a truly memorable evening filled with wonderful music, energy and community spirit. We were delighted to have a sold out show, with everyone coming together to support a great cause.

A huge thank you to Bollywood Echoes for putting on such a brilliant show, and to the amazing singers Shahzad, Vaishali and Ronnie, who kept the audience entertained throughout the evening.

Our appreciation also goes to the superb musicians Ramesh, Sunil and Ashok, whose incredible talent brought the music to life.

A special mention must go to our Social Committee, led by Lion Rashmi, whose exceptional dedication, hard work and attention to detail helped make the evening such a tremendous success. Their efforts behind the scenes ensured everything came together beautifully.

Most importantly, the evening raised a significant amount for charity, which would not have been possible without the generosity and support of everyone who attended, contributed and helped make the event happen.

Thank you to our performers, musicians, Social Committee, volunteers, supporters, sponsors and, of course, every single person who bought a ticket and joined us.

A fantastic start to our Lion Year, and a wonderful reminder of what we can achieve when we come together for a good cause. 🦁

Making a Difference in Our Community

On Sunday, 20th September, Lions Club of Coventry Godiva brought the community together at the Sikh Family Centre, with kind support from the Gurdwara Guru Singh Sabha, for an important event focused on brain health and dementia awareness.

We introduced the internationally validated Brain Care Score, covering 12 important areas linked to brain health and dementia risk, giving attendees practical information to help them understand their brain health and take action early.

With World Alzheimer’s Day approaching, the message could not be more timely:

“The Earlier You Know, the More You Can Do.”

The response from the community was overwhelmingly positive. Many told us that events like this are greatly needed and that they would recommend them to friends and family.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended, volunteered, organised and supported the event, both on the day and behind the scenes. And a special thank you to the Gurdwara and Sikh Family Centre for their warm hospitality and generous support.

Together, we are raising awareness, encouraging early action and making a difference, everywhere, every time.

Healthy mind in a healthy body. Your health in your hands.

The Lions Club of Coventry Godiva, together with Coventry Navigation 1 PCN, Coventry GP Connect, Alzheimer’s UK, Dementia UK, Coventry Dementia Partnership Hub, Amba Care, Diabetes UK and NHS secondary care, is delivering Brain Health Awareness Events across Coventry.

The aim is simple: raise awareness, identify risks early and encourage people to take positive steps towards better brain health.

On Sunday 6th September our Lions Club of Coventry Godiva, in association with Midland Langar Seva Society and Ministry North Point Church Coventry, conducted our monthly community Homeless Feed.

We served freshly made vegetable pasta, samosas and bottles of water.

Today’s Feed was sponsored by Lion Hitesh Parekh and Family.

Our total number of service users was 172

Thank you to Lion John Matharu, Lion Pritash Mistry and Lion Billy Ghatora. Also present were two friends of Lion Hitesh, Faz and Mahesh.

Thanks to Surinder Virdee and Sitesh Porwal from MLSS for supporting.
