Our growing spaces are beginning to look lush with the recent rain and sunshine! The children on the AP are absolutely loving the seed to soil journey, learning about growth, plant life and biodiversity through mindful gardening. We can’t wait to see what unfolds each week! Rainbow corn is in the ground and has doubled since. Tiny tomatoes have made an appearance too…

A productive day at AP today.
The children who sowed the beans 🫘 last term and nurtured them, have planted them out in the beds today.
Another creative afternoon of didgeridoo making followed by scrumptious chocolate bananas.

Growing Update:
We have been busy with the young people from our Stepping Stones alternative provision programme.
- Beetroot, Broad Beans, Swede, Radishes, Potatoes and Lettuce have been planted out, 🥔🫛🥬
- New Zealand Spinach, Kale, Chard, Runner Beans, Climbing French Beans, Leek, Broccoli, Tomatoes, Sweetcorn, Rainbow Corn and Carrots growing nicely 🌽🥕🥦🍅
- Dahlia, Hollyhocks, Cosmos, Blue Flax, Zinnia, Calendula, Marigold and Sunflowers also growing nicely🌻 🌺🌼
The young people have developed a wildflower area and are excitedly waiting for the flowers to appear this spring!
We are incredibly grateful to for their seed and compost donation and our volunteers - Karen Mounter, Della George and Daryl Clough along with our young adult mentor team who help with their time and effort with the allotment and wildlife garden.
A big shout out to our wonderful allotment community who are always eager to share their growing advice and support. It does feel like a village supporting our social impact enterprise.

Happy Earth Day 🌍
We all have a role to play in caring for our shared home.

Through our work with children and young people, we’re helping nurture a deeper connection to nature—supporting their wellbeing today and empowering them to build a better world for tomorrow.

What’s one small thing you can do today to connect with and care for nature? 🌱
