🎉What a day!

Today we enjoyed an amazing workshop learning all things tech - from lighting and sound to projection! 💡🎤🎬 A huge thank you to Ian and Matt from Theatre & Performance Studies, University of Warwick for sharing your knowledge and helping us get hands-on with tech, and thanks also to Nadine for organising.

Today is also our 8th birthday! 🎂 We celebrated with plenty of doughnuts 🍩✨

A massive thank you to all our wonderful supporters for helping us reach this milestone. We couldn’t do it without you! 💙

✨ Meet our Patron: RHYS WILKINSON✨

We're delighted to introduce Rhys as one of our three Patrons.

Rhys is an established actor, choreographer and movement director, and learnt to dance at Freeman Dance in Coventry. Rhys’s creative Credits include: assistant choreographer for Paddington The Musical (West End).

Here's what inspired Rhys to become a Patron:

"Growing up in Coventry I knew I was different and it wasn’t always easy. Aside from my supportive family and friends, dance and theatre gave the space and community I needed to thrive and discover myself in. I’m excited to support Underground Lights in giving other people living in Coventry this same experience. Access to the performing arts CAN be life changing, so I feel a great pride in supporting an organisation that could make this happen for people in my home town."

We're incredibly grateful to have Rhys's support and look forward to working together to raise awareness of our mission and make an even greater impact.

✨ Meet our Patron: MANJINDER VIRK ✨

We're delighted to introduce Manjinder as one of our three Patrons.

Coventry born, Manjinder is an award winning writer/director/actor. She was recently one of the five finalists for the Women’s Prize for Playwriting for The Room.

Here's what inspired Manjinder to become a Patron:

"We need theatre companies within the community that are safe, vibrant and creative spaces where everyone feels welcome. Drama and performing arts activities are known to improve mental health and wellbeing, they allow people to feel heard and be places of non judgement. Underground Lights is led for and by its members who are adults experiencing social disadvantage, homelessness and/or mental health issues. It’s an honour to support a company in my home town, Coventry that exists to make the Arts accessible to all!"

We're incredibly grateful to have their support and look forward to working together to raise awareness of our mission and make an even greater impact.

What a fantastic event filled with creativity, talent, and community spirit. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and it was wonderful to see so many people having fun and supporting one another.

✨ Meet our Patron: ANDY HOCKLEY ✨

We're delighted to introduce Andy as one of our three Patrons.

Andy is an actor widely celebrated as Belgrade Theatre, Coventry’s panto stalwart. In winter 2025, he celebrated his 20th pantomime appearance at the theatre.

Here's what inspired Andy to become a Patron:

"I appreciate the importance of theatre in giving people a confidence and a voice they don't necessarily have in society. It provides a safe space in which they can simply be themselves and build friendships and trust. The value of companies like Underground Lights is immeasurable."

🎉 We're delighted to welcome our first ever Patrons to Underground Lights Community Theatre! 🎉

Today we're proud to introduce Andy Hockley, Manjinder Virk and Rhys Wilkinson as Patrons of Underground Lights.

Each of them brings a wealth of experience, passion and a shared belief in the power of creativity to transform lives. Their support will help us champion inclusive theatre, raise awareness of our work, and create more opportunities for people to build confidence, develop skills and connect through the arts.

At Underground Lights, we believe everyone deserves the opportunity to express themselves and experience the joy of performance. Having Andy, Manjinder and Rhys join us as Patrons is an exciting milestone as we continue to grow our impact and reach even more people.

As a charity working to support people with lived expeirnece of homelessness and mental health distress we're incredibly grateful that they have chosen to support our mission, and we look forward to working together to inspire creativity, celebrate inclusion and shine a light on the talents of our incredible members.
