Carers told us about stress, exhaustion, loneliness and the impact caring can have on their own health and wellbeing.

We’re doing: We’re keeping carers’ wellbeing at the heart of our conversations and the support we offer. Our groups and activities provide opportunities to connect with others who understand, and our teams can help carers talk through what support might make a difference.

We’re also taking your message about recognition by professionals into conversations with the organisations we work alongside.

Carers’ knowledge of the person they support matters, and so does their own wellbeing.
If caring is affecting you, you deserve support too. 💚

Do you provide practical, emotional and health-related support to someone?

Whether you help with grocery shopping, personal care, managing finances, making phone calls or simply support with the day-to-day, the Survey of Carers needs your voice.

The Survey of Carers is a new pilot survey being run by researchers at the University of Birmingham, in collaboration with the Centre for Care, aimed at giving you the chance to tell the Government what would make
the biggest difference to your life. By choosing to take part, you'll help inform the decisions made by policymakers, including your local council, about the support unpaid carers like you need.

All responses will be 100% anonymous and nothing personal or identifiable will be published in any reports or findings. The Survey of Carers simply wants to give you the opportunity to share your voice about what better support looks and feels like to you.

🗣️You said: “It can be hard to know what support is available or where to start.”

Clear information and easier access to practical help came through strongly in both July and August’s Carers Voice feedback.

We’re doing: We’re using your feedback to look at how we explain our services, how carers find their way to the right support, and where information needs to be clearer.

Our teams are currently working with GPs across the community to raise awareness and how to identify unpaid carers – let us know if you would like us to reach out to your local GP centre.

Our teams can talk through your situation; help you explore the options available and connect you with other services where appropriate.
You shouldn’t have to have all the answers before asking for help. If you care for someone in Coventry or Warwickshire, please get in touch with Carers Trust Heart of England and tell us what you need.

📣 Young carers and young adult carers, have your say! 💙💚

We’d love to encourage our young carers across Coventry Young Carers Services and Caring Together Young Carers Warwickshire to join this free online event from Carers Trust

If you care for an adult family member, or are moving into adulthood as a carer, this is your opportunity to tell members of the Casey Commission team what life is like for you and what support would make a difference.

Interested but unsure about taking part? Speak to your young carers worker so we can explore how to support you to get involved.

Let’s make sure Warwickshire and Coventry young carers are part of the conversation! 💙

Social care reform has dominated the news in recent weeks. With a Prime Minister who has said he is committed to solving social care and the expected publication of the Casey Commission next year, the momentum surrounding adult social care is bigger than ever before.

But what does adult social care have to do with young carers?

We want to ensure that young carers are not forgotten in the conversation on adult social care and highlight that adult social care has an important responsibility to identify and support young carers and their families.

As part of this with members from the Casey Commission Team, we are holding a Young Carers and Adult Social Care Summit!

This will be an opportunity for young carers caring for a relative over 18, young carers who have transitioned/are transitioning to adulthood, and for professionals supporting young carers to share their experiences.
