Baby Lifeline A charity that supports maternity teams to give every mum and baby the best care possible from pregnancy, birth, and afterwards.

We do this through our expert-led training, providing equipment to maternity and neonatal teams, and national research. Baby Lifeline is a unique national charity which promotes the safe care of pregnant women and newborn babies all over the UK and worldwide. It does this by supporting and working with NHS professionals – buying equipment, developing and providing critical training, and conducting research.

🇺🇦 From the UK to Ukraine - making a difference together. 💙💛

We're pleased to share some of the first photographs showing Mum Bags being delivered in Ukraine, as Baby Lifeline's ongoing humanitarian support continues to reach mothers and families affected by the conflict.

These bags, prepared by the wonderful volunteers at Lichfield Mothers' Union, contain practical essentials to help support new mothers during incredibly challenging circumstances.

Thanks to the incredible efforts of Kenilworth Lions, the donations have been transported to Ukraine in donated ambulances, providing further vital support to communities in need.

Seeing these donations reach their destination is a powerful reminder of what can be achieved through kindness, generosity and collaboration.

This week, we join families, communities and organisations across the UK in remembering babies who are no longer with us, recognising the lasting impact of pregnancy and baby loss, and helping to ensure that no family feels alone in their experience.

is also an important opportunity to keep raising awareness, challenging stigma, and continuing to advocate for compassionate, safe and supportive maternity care.

đź’™ 33 Mum Bags ready for Ukrainian mothers

A dedicated group of eight volunteers has helped prepare our latest delivery of practical support for mothers and families in Ukraine.

These "Mum Bags" provide practical essentials for new mothers and have formed an important part of the charity’s support for Ukraine.

The delivery also includes 33 maternity books, a bag of knitted blankets and a bag of adult coats to provide additional support as the colder months approach.

The supplies will make their journey to Ukraine in two ambulances being gifted by Kenilworth Lions.

These practical acts of support are made possible through the generosity, time and commitment of volunteers, partners and supporters, all working together to help mothers, babies, families and healthcare professionals affected by the ongoing conflict.

A huge thank you to everyone who has helped prepare and support this latest delivery, and to Kenilworth Lions for their generous donation of the two ambulances. đź’™

Our incredible fundraising hero Frank Sharratt and his team have completed The Rebekah Way – an extraordinary endurance challenge across the Lake District in support of Baby Lifeline.

It was a gruelling week, with difficult weather along the way, but Frank and the team kept going – supported by the amazing people who came out to encourage them throughout the challenge.

Frank created The Rebekah Way in honour of his partner Rebekah, following the traumatic birth of their son Stan earlier this year.

After witnessing first-hand the incredible care provided by maternity and neonatal teams, Frank wanted to turn his family’s experience into something that could help other mothers, babies and families.

And what an achievement it has been. đź’™

A huge thank you and congratulations to Frank and the entire team, and to every single person who donated, shared their journey or supported them along the way.

The funds raised will help Baby Lifeline continue our work to make pregnancy and birth safer through maternity training, vital equipment and research.

Taking place from 21–27 September, this year’s theme, Joy • Justice • Journey, brings together mothers, communities, healthcare professionals and organisations to celebrate Black motherhood, challenge inequalities and recognise the individual experiences behind every mother’s journey.

Black mothers continue to face barriers to accessing safe, timely and culturally appropriate mental health and maternity care. This week provides an important opportunity to listen, learn and amplify the experiences of Black mothers, while encouraging meaningful action to improve care and support.

At Baby Lifeline, we believe that safer maternity care must be equitable, compassionate and responsive to the needs of every mother and family.

Yesterday we welcomed 400 NHS professionals, researchers, policymakers, maternity leaders and families to our National Maternity Safety Conference 2026.

Under the theme Next Steps for Safer Care: From Insight to Implementation, the day focused on turning learning into action and strengthening safety, quality and experience across maternity and neonatal care.

We were delighted to welcome Health Secretary Yvette Cooper and a fantastic line-up of speakers who shared expertise, insight and lived experience on some of the most important issues facing maternity services today.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended, spoke and supported the event. Your commitment to safer care for women, babies and families continues to inspire us.

We look forward to building on the conversations and momentum from the day as we work together towards lasting improvements in maternity and neonatal care.
