Before my evening care visit, his daughter messaged: “Muffin on the counter for Dad.”
I looked twice. Nothing.

He was asleep, so I woke him gently.
I made his sausage sandwich, gave his tablets and put in his eye drops. 🥪 + 💊

Then I found flour, an egg and a mixing bowl.
I made a muffin from scratch. 👩‍🍳

As I cleared up, I found the first one.
He examined both.
“Good,” he said. “I’ve been under-muffined lately.” 🧁

I'm 64. Mum is 87.
