Enterprise Club for Disabled People

Enterprise Club for Disabled People The Enterprise Club for Disabled People works to improve the quality of life of disabled people in Coventry and the surrounding area.

The Enterprise Club for Disabled People works to improve the quality of life of disabled people in Coventry and the surrounding area, through providing or assisting with the provision of facilities for recreation and leisure time occupation. The club, based in Avon Street,Stoke,Coventry,is open five days and six evenings every week offering a wide range of services, including Day Care,a Sports Gro

up, a Handicraft Group, Social Evenings and Lunch and Theatre Excursions. The main aim of the charity’s work is to reduce the feeling of loneliness and isolation often experienced by disabled people and to improve self-esteem. With a 79-year record of providing opportunities for people with a wide range of disabilities to participate in physical activity and sport, the club now has a membership of over 150. The majority of the activities provided are of therapeutic value to members and make a huge contribution to improving their quality of life. The Management Committee has to raise over £90,000 each year to fund the general running costs of the charity, the most expensive element being the Transport Service. The club owns three adapted mini buses and at the present time the purchase price of a new vehicle is £35,000. Additional fund raising activities have to be organised to generate the funding needed to purchase the vehicles.

We start 2026 with some incredibly sad news. With a very heavy heart I have to post that club member Roy Deveraux passed away earlier this evening after a short but courageously fought battle with Cancer. He loved life, living it to the absolute max, still making plans up until the very end. Roy joined the club in 2008 and attended several times per week. He also volunteered with several other organisations in the City. He raised a significant amount of funding for the club in sponsorship raised from his participation in the Leofric Lions Move4Fun event. He had great charisma and was a real showman. He loved performing in the annual Enterprise HAS Got Talent evening, was renowned for his energetic performances during Karaoke sessions and he accompanied visiting entertainers on the air guitar.
Roy was an exceptional person giving so much back to the places and people he was involved with.
Roy was an avid supporter of Coventry City Football Club attending all home games and he was so keen to see them promoted back into the Premier League. I am sure he will still be cheering them on from above.
Rest peacefully Roy, you deserve a good rest.
We will miss you.
With love from everyone at the Enterprise Club. ###x
