VACANCY – BAGINTON PARISH COUNCIL

Baginton Parish Council currently has a vacancy for a Parish Councillor.

The formal vacancy notice has been published and the statutory 14-day period will end on 10 August 2026.

If you are interested in becoming involved with the Parish Council and helping to represent and support the local community, please contact the Parish Clerk after 10 August, when further information and an application form can be provided.

Becoming a Parish Councillor is a great opportunity to have a say in matters affecting the village and to play an active part in the local community.

The Parish Council would also like to take this opportunity to thank Mike Meakin for his many years of service to Baginton Parish Council. His time, commitment and contribution to the Council and the village have been greatly appreciated.

We wish Mike all the very best for the future.

Dear Residents,

Baginton Parish Council has recently received a number of complaints regarding dog mess being left around the village. Unfortunately, the problem appears to be increasing and is causing understandable frustration for many residents.

Nobody enjoys finding dog mess on pavements, grass verges, footpaths or public open spaces. It is unpleasant, can present a health risk, and detracts from the appearance of our village. Most dog owners are responsible and already do the right thing by carrying bags and cleaning up after their pets. However, it only takes a small number of people failing to do so to create a significant problem for everyone else.

The reality is that there is no simple solution other than dog owners taking responsibility and picking up after their dogs every time. Dog poo bags can be placed in litter bins throughout the village, making disposal straightforward and convenient.

We are asking all residents to help us tackle this issue. If you witness dog fouling being left behind, please report it directly to Warwick District Council. Details of how to do this can be found on the Parish Council's dog fouling poster and communications. Reports can help enforcement officers identify problem areas and, where appropriate, take action against offenders.

Keeping Baginton clean is something we can only achieve together. Whether you are a dog owner, a walker, a parent, a cyclist, or simply someone who takes pride in our village, we all have a role to play.

Let's work together, respect our shared spaces, and show consideration for one another. A cleaner village benefits everyone.

Good News

I have today spoken to WCC highways about Bubbenhall Bridge, and have received the following response.

The works to repair the collision damage to Bubbenhall Bridge are complete, and the road was supposed to have been reopened last weekend. Apologies if this hasn't happened and for the unnecessary disruption this may have caused. I will take this up with our contractor and arrange for the closure and diversion signs to be removed as soon as possible.

Government consultation on Local Government Reorganisation in Warwickshire launches and will run for seven weeks.
The government has launched a consultation to invite residents, businesses, and key stakeholders, to have their say as part of the consultation on what Local Government Reorganisation (LGR) should look like in Warwickshire.
Currently, Warwickshire has two-tiers of local government, Warwickshire County Council as one tier and five District and Borough Councils - North Warwickshire Borough, Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough, Rugby Borough, Stratford and Warwick District Councils as the second tier.
Local government reorganisation (LGR) is planned for Warwickshire because central government has set out a national policy to reorganise the current two-tier system of local government in England to one tier, and Warwickshire is one of the areas affected by that policy.
In line with the Local Authority Publicity Code, the councils are not promoting or advocating for any option within the consultation. The consultation is being led by Government, which is seeking views on the options that have been put forward.
The Government is only consulting on whether residents would prefer one unitary council for Warwickshire, or separate north and south unitary councils.

If you would like to share your views on Local Government Reorganisation in Warwickshire, the easiest way to take part is to provide your feedback through the online survey.
The consultation is open from Thursday, 5 February, until Thursday, 26 March.
