🌈❤️ SIKH STORIES IN COLOURS: BRINGING PEOPLE TOGETHER THROUGH ART, STORIES & UNDERSTANDING ✨

One of the most beautiful and heartwarming parts of this exhibition has been seeing people from all walks of life, cultures, faiths and backgrounds walk through our doors and leave feeling inspired. ❤️

Not everyone feels comfortable stepping in front of a camera to share their experience, but the conversations, smiles, heartfelt feedback and genuine curiosity we’ve witnessed have meant more to us than words can express. 🙏

Through artwork, animation, music and storytelling, Sikh Stories in Colours has opened a window into Sikh history, identity and the beautiful philosophy of Sikh life, creating opportunities for people to learn, connect and appreciate one another.

Today, we’re delighted to share this lovely reflection from a visitor from Pakistan, who kindly took the time to share her experience. 🇵🇰❤️

Moments like these truly warm our hearts. They remind us why we created this exhibition and make every bit of hard work worthwhile.

Because ultimately, it’s not just about telling Sikh stories. It’s about building bridges, celebrating our differences and discovering the humanity that connects us all. 🌍💛

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who has visited, shared their experiences and supported this journey. Your kindness and encouragement mean the world to us.

🌈 Different backgrounds. Different journeys. Shared humanity.

Sikh Stories in Colour is on now at the Herbert Art Gallery and Museum. Creators say they wanted to ensure Sikh children see themselves represented - but also want to let children from every background explore and learn from their stories

💙✨ This is why we do what we do.

Meet Sandy, who recently visited our Sikh Stories in Colours exhibition with her daughter. 🎨🌈

Sandy shared that she’d been searching for experiences like this for the past couple of years. After discovering our exhibition organically through social media, she decided to come along — and hearing about her experience has meant so much to us.

As a non-profit organisation, moments like these remind us exactly why IM1313 exists.

Our mission has always been about more than creating books, artwork or exhibitions. It’s about creating meaningful experiences, celebrating Sikh heritage, inspiring curiosity and ensuring children and families can see themselves, their stories and their identities represented.

To know that something we’ve created has connected with a family in this way, and exceeded their expectations, is incredibly rewarding.

It’s stories like Sandy’s that motivate us to keep creating, keep pushing boundaries and keep bringing more of these experiences to life. 💛

A huge thank you to Sandy and her daughter for visiting, for finding us, and for taking the time to share their experience.

This is what representation, storytelling and community are all about. 🙏🏽

And if you’ve been thinking about visiting, we’d love for you to come and experience it for yourself!
