L&NWR Society Exclusive Numbered D84 and D90.
Following Rapido Trains Ltd announcement of the LNWR D84 and D90 open Wagons in 4mm Scale, 00 gauge, The London and North Western Railway Society is delighted to announce we are commissioning an exclusive numbered variant of both wagons.
Our D84 4 plank Open General Merchandise Wagon No.45107 is in LNWR Grey Livery. Our D90 10T Coal Wagon No.57433 is also featured in LNWR Grey livery. Both wagons are representative of known prototypes and feature two rib buffers, long brake handle, split spoke wheels seated in metal bearings and a high level of detail above and below the floor line. At 7pm on the 30th of September our Staff History Officer is giving a talk entitled An Introduction to Railway Staff History.
All the major railway Companies kept ledgers listing the staff they employed, in the various Departments and grades; we are very fortunate that many of these have survived. The object of this talk is to outline what records are available, what are not, why, and where they can be found. Although many of the records are at TNA, others are at a variety of Archives across the UK. If needed, guidance can be given on how to access these. Questions are very welcome.
Examples will be drawn from the LNWR, and some specifically from the Coventry area, but the same principles apply to a large extent to the MR, GWR and GCR. The records of others such as GNR, NER and CalR have largely been lost.

The talk will be delivered via Zoom. We should have a few spaces for non members. If you are interested please contact our archivist [email protected]
