✈️ Volunteers’ Week 2026

This week we’re celebrating the amazing staff team who keep 8F (1st City of Coventry) Squadron running.

Every parade night, every activity, every opportunity our cadets get — it all happens because our volunteers show up, give their time, and genuinely care about what we do.

Your commitment makes a real difference to young people in Coventry, and we’re incredibly grateful for everything you bring to the squadron.

Thank you for helping us reach high and far.

Blue Wings achieved! 💙✈️
Massive congratulations to Cdt Bruce, who finally took to the skies at RAF Cosford today after waiting through several weather‑related cancellations. His patience, positivity, and commitment never wavered — and today he earned the reward he’s worked so hard for.
Moments like this lift the whole squadron and remind us what resilience looks like. Brilliant work, Cdt Bruce

🎉 Awards Night Highlight 🎉
Tonight we wrapped up our final presentation of the evening with a fantastic double achievement for Cdt Winkler 👏
Not only did he take home the Sports Award for his outstanding commitment, effort and performance throughout the year… but he was also promoted to Corporal! 💪✨
A huge well done to Cpl Winkler — your hard work, determination and positive attitude continue to set the standard for others on the squadron. Keep pushing, keep leading, and keep making 8F proud.

What a night! 🎉
On Saturday 9th May 2026, 8F (1st City of Coventry) Squadron RAFAC lit up our new Squadron Chaplain’s church for an Awards Night packed with pride, achievement, and big smiles all round.
We were buzzing to welcome the Deputy Lord Mayor of Coventry, the Deputy Lady Mayoress, and Wing Commander Cassidy, OC Warwickshire & Birmingham Wing — thank you for making the night even more special.
Huge congratulations to every cadet who took home an award. You smashed it. 💙✈️

A special moment for 8F yesterday as FS Costin completed her final official duty as the Lord-Lieutenant’s Cadet for Warwickshire.

With the Lord-Lieutenant, the Wing Commander, and our OC all there to support her, we heard about her unforgettable year — from major ceremonial events to the legendary art of eating a canapé.

We couldn’t be prouder. Well done, FS Costin

An organisation that quite literally runs on tea… of course 8F (1st City of Coventry) Squadron is celebrating National Tea Day! ☕

Across the Royal Air Force Air Cadets, and especially here at 8F, there’s one thing you can always count on finding during parade nights, camps, courses, and those late evenings spent planning training: a proper brew.

So today, we’re settling the big questions once and for all. What is the perfect colour for a cup of tea?

Milk first or tea first? Light and milky, or strong and builder’s brew brown?

And when it comes to biscuits… are you team digestive, chocolate hobnob, or something completely different?

Let the (very serious) debate commence… ☕👇
