A fantastic day in the skies, putting the training into practice and enjoying everything that comes with being part of the squadron.

Days like today are just one of the reasons to join us — great people, great flying, and opportunities to do things you’ll remember for a lifetime. 🇬🇧

🎉 What a busy September at 8F (1st City of Coventry) Squadron.

From fantastic results at Wing Field Day 🏆 to welcoming the Deputy Lieutenant for the West Midlands, our cadets have worked incredibly hard!

We also said a fond farewell to Cdt Sgt Marshall-Murray, who has been part of the squadron for many years. Thank you for everything you’ve given to 8F, and we wish you all the best for the future! 💙

To finish the month, we enjoyed a well-deserved relaxed parade with Xbox 🎮, pizza 🍕 games 👾and plenty of laughs!

Today 8F (1st City of Coventry) Squadron had the honour of welcoming David Moorcroft OBE DL, Deputy Lieutenant for the West Midlands, who visited the squadron to present Cpl Casey Kimberley with her Young Active Citizen Award – Highly Commended.
We were also delighted to host Wing Commander Cassidy and Squadron Leader Foster, who joined us in recognising Cpl Kimberleys exceptional contribution and dedication.

Yesterday, 8F Squadron RAFAC took part in Wing Field Day 2026, and I could not be prouder of how every single cadet represented the squadron. From the moment they arrived, their attitude, discipline, and determination were clear for all to see. They approached each event with focus and teamwork, supporting one another, stepping up when needed, and demonstrating exactly what it means to wear the 8F badge.

Their hard work throughout the year — the evenings spent practising drill, the commitment to academic subjects, the effort put into developing confidence and leadership — all came together in a brilliant set of results:

2nd — Space
2nd — Drill
2nd — Solo instrumentalist
2nd — Public speaking
1st — Archery

These results reflect not only individual talent, but the collective strength of the squadron — cadets encouraging each other, pushing themselves, and showing real pride in their performance. Every cadet contributed to the success of the day, whether they were competing, supporting, or representing the squadron in other ways.

This was a fantastic achievement across the board, and I want to congratulate all cadets for their effort, teamwork, and commitment. You represented 8F with excellence, and you should be incredibly proud of what you achieved.

Cdt Billington and Cdt Franklin have spent the week at Regional Camp, RAF Waddington, and what an incredible experience it’s been.
From exploring Bomber Command, to meeting the Red Arrows, and so much more — they’ve made memories that will stay with them throughout their cadet journey.
A fantastic achievement and a brilliant representation of 8F (1st City of Coventry) Squadron RAFAC.
