Projects in Palestine

Projects in Palestine We are a Coventry based organisation, raising funds to provide Projects in Palestine. None of us take a wage and all self-fund our trips.

Projects in Palestine is an charitable organisation based in Coventry, fundraising to help people in the Occupied Palestinian Territories. Our ethos is to help enable the Palestinians to continue to live and work on their lands whilst helping them to self -sustain whether it be by planting trees and crops or assisting them to start small businesses. We are particularly interested in helping people

out of poverty by focussing on funding women’s projects, projects for children and farming and planting. Through the help of our Palestinian co-ordinators, we will visit, assess and donate goods needed to make these projects happen. All three trustees have visited Palestine on numerous occasions and all three have volunteered throughout Palestine, giving them a wealth of experience and knowledge of the West Bank. All donations and money received will be spent facilitating Projects in Palestine. Charity Number 1196506

One of our big projects every year is planting trees in the West Bank. One of our friends Mohamad, is a talented film maker, who made us this wonderful short film. If you would like to buy an olive tree, it will cost Β£15, if you'd like to buy a grapevine it will cost Β£10 and you can donate via this link, where 100% of what we raise is spent on the ground in Palestine- https://cafdonate.cafonline.org/28366 #!/DonationDetails

If you want some of our lovely new pottery fresh from Hebron, pop along and see us at The Leamington Peace Festival on the 13th and 14th of June, in the Pump Room Gardens.
Our stall will be situated near the children's area, stall 41.
We will also have our embroidery by Om Sarah as well as other Palestinian goods for sale.
The peace Festival is open from 10am to 6pm both days.
Pop along and say hello.

We can't quite believe that this time last week, we were out on the hills trying to fly our wonderfully decorated kites. Where has the last week gone since we left the wonderful The Wisp Retreat ?
We just wanted to share with you, our followers and all of our retreaters, what they raised by coming on the retreat.- Β£1339.
During the week, we ate- boy did we eat! We made stuffed vine leaves, Sambusak, and helped make falafel, hummous, Maqluba, Baklava and many more delicious dishes. We did Tatreez, decorated kites and flew them, decorated stones to leave at The Wisp. We connected every day with our friends in Palestine and more than a few tears were shed, as well as lots of laughter with engaging conversations. On our last night we were entertained by Duo Hyperborea with Chris's amazing skills on every instrument he touched, and Helena's mesmerising voice.
Many thanks to Rola and Sama and Nicky for helping make the retreat the success it was, as well of course to Alison and Eddie, who trusted us with The Wisp takeover.
We had a fantastic group of participants who just gelled and made our jobs just that little bit easier for the retreat to run smoothly.
This money raised is going towards a summer school in the Salfit area to give the children there some much needed and much wanted education as they have lost so much over the past couple of years due to the situation.
If you wanted to also donate to this, please do so through this link- and if you are a UK tax payer, please tick the gift aid box, as that really helps us https://cafdonate.cafonline.org/28366 #!/DonationDetails
Thank you all.

Fresh from our retreat, we are looking to put on a Palestinian food night somewhere. Maybe a Falafel night, maybe some other Palestinian food. We used to hold these at the wonderful, much missed, Commongroundcoventry. Can anyone think of another venue who has a kitchen in or around Coventry we could take over to hold such a night (for either free or a really low rent) with seating?
Looking forward to reading your ideas and suggestions.

During our retreat we made contact with many of our contacts in the West Bank. Linda is one of our amazing contacts who we work with to source the Projects that we do. As Linda speaks Arabic, and to our shame, our Arabic is minimal, we asked Linda to do us a little video to highlight some of the things we have done with her over the years so we could add subtitles and share her words with you.

What an amazing time we had at The Wisp Retreat last week. Take a little look into how our week went.
