When did you last test your smoke alarm?

It only takes a few seconds to press the test button, but it could make a vital difference.

Please test your smoke alarm regularly. If it does not sound, appears damaged or you have any concerns, contact us so we can help.

A small check can help keep you and your home safer.

Don’t wait until it gets worse.

A dripping tap, small leak, loose handrail or broken lock can quickly become a bigger problem if it is left.

Reporting repairs early helps us deal with issues sooner, reduce disruption and keep your home in good condition.

If something does not look or feel right, please let us know.

Fire doors are there to help protect you, your neighbours and your home if a fire breaks out.

Please never wedge a fire door open or interfere with its self-closing mechanism. Keeping it closed can help slow the spread of smoke and fire and give people more time to get to safety.

If you notice any damage to a fire door or it is not closing properly, please report it to us.

This is Jayne (left) and Catherine (right) with our customer Marianne during a volunteer effort that got a little messy!

Catherine is our credit controller and Jayne is our management accountant, so they spend most of their days working through figures and accounts.

They both got involved in the recent Glendale project during Volunteers Week and really enjoyed being out and about meeting customers.

The best conversations don’t always happen around a meeting table. They happen on a doorstep, during a visit or over a quick cup of tea!

Getting out and spending time with the people who live in our homes helps us hear what really matters - the important things that are personal to everyone in their own way.

Knowledge leads to action - tell us what's happening, we're listening.

Looking for extra financial support?

Did you know there are thousands of charitable grants available across the UK that many people don't realise they may be eligible for?

The free Turn2us Grants Search helps you search for grants based on your personal circumstances. It could help with everyday living costs, household items, disability support, education, health needs and much more.

Please note that Auckland Home Solutions is not connected to, and does not administer, these grants or decide who receives funding. The Turn2us website will guide you through the search process and explain any eligibility criteria.

.

Find out more here:

The Turn2us Grants Search has over 1,400 grants to support individuals looking for financial help. Turn2us also offers a small number of its own grants.

Sometimes, making a difference isn't about a major overhaul.

It's about creating a space where people want to spend time.

As part of our recent volunteer project at Glendale, staff, residents and local businesses worked together to give the outdoor areas a new lease of life.

Overgrown areas were cleared, and pathways were made safer and jet washed, creating a cleaner, brighter and more welcoming space for everyone to enjoy.

One resident summed up the difference perfectly:

"The work on the garden has created a really nice space for us to come together and enjoy."

It's the litte things that often have the biggest impact on how people feel about where they live.

A huge thank you to everyone who gave their time and expertise to help make it happen.

🚪 Giving us access helps us look after your home.

From repairs and maintenance to important safety checks, there are times when we need to get into your home to carry out essential work.

If we're unable to gain access, it can delay repairs and safety checks that help keep your home in good condition.

By letting us in when we need access, you're helping us keep your home safe, secure and well maintained.

Thank you for working with us.

Who's responsible for what?

One of the questions we're asked most often is who is responsible for different repairs around the home.

As your housing provider, we'll look after things like:

🏠 The structure of your home

🚪 External doors and windows

🔥 Heating and hot water systems

💧 External pipework, gutters and drains

🛠 Repairs that are our responsibility under your tenancy agreement

There are a few things we ask customers to look after, such as:

💡 Replacing light bulbs

🧹 Keeping your home clean and well ventilated

🚰 Letting us know about repairs as soon as possible so we can stop small problems becoming bigger ones

If you're ever unsure who's responsible for a repair, don't worry – just get in touch and we'll be happy to help.

We know you probably don't need any encouragement to open your windows at the moment with the weather being so lovely, but at any time, opening your windows for just 10–15 minutes each day can help improve ventilation and reduce condensation in your home.

Small changes can make a big difference and we're here to help. 😊
