Worried about someone sleeping rough? This post can help you to help them.

If you receive The Countesthorpe Herald, you will find an article about the future of the fund.
After 15 years of operation it has come time to wind down the fund. We are an aging group of helpers and requests for grants has dropped in recent years.
We will continue to collect papers until the end of 2024 and send off one final load to our end user. After that the remaining funds will be dispersed during 2025 and then closed down.
Many people have been helped over the years which couldn't have happened without your help, so thank you on behalf of the fund and the recipients of grants. ❤️

Our outreach team is out in the city every day to look for people who are sleeping rough, and to offer support.
We're working with local charities to provide extra beds this winter, in addition to the 42 beds at the Dawn Centre hostel which is open all day, every day.

GEOFF KIRK wins the
CORONATION CHAMPIONS AWARD

Fantastic news about a well deserved honour to Geoff Kirk.
Awarded in honour of Their Majesties’ service to the country, Royal Voluntary Service is launching the Coronation Champions Awards for volunteers, an official Coronation project. Together with Her Majesty the Queen Consort, the awards will celebrate extraordinary volunteers across the country who have been contributing to their communities. Only 500 have been awarded across the country.
This new honour has been awarded to Geoff for his work on the Countesthorpe Community Fund which he started several years ago. Old newspapers collected from containers in doorways and many businesses and sold, and the money used for hundreds of urgent needs within the village. From a new cooker for a family who could not afford to replace their old broken one, a new table or chairs or whatever will help a family who do not know where to look for help. Geoff and his team work tirelessly and quietly to help others in need. The Village is extremely fortunate to have this terrific Fund available to help where needed.
He would say, he has been given the award for his team who help and support all the Community Fund does, so it is really their award.
The Parish Council who has supported this cause since its inception add their congratulations to an award deserved and well earned. The Community Fund details are on the Parish Council website www.countesthorpeparishcouncil.co.uk under Village Information.
