WOW, what an amazing gesture from some amazing ladies! 💜

All of us at Checkmate are absolutely over the moon with what The Purple Ladies have done for us.

After hearing their story and learning about the incredible amount of money they’ve raised over 18 years of giving back through fundraising, it’s sad to see them take a step back from their activities. But we are more than thankful that they’ve chosen Checkmate to receive their final fundraising donation of £2170!

This is what community is all about. ❤️

This kind of generosity goes such a long way, and we can’t thank you enough on behalf of every man in our group who will benefit from your kindness.

Sometimes people don’t need advice.

They don’t need us to find the right words, explain their grief, or tell them how to heal.

Sometimes they just need to hear three simple words:

“I’ve got you.”

Or, in a community like ours:

“We’ve got you.”

Because when you’re grieving a su***de loss, there can be moments when the weight of it feels like too much. The questions, the memories, the loneliness, the guilt, the anger, the things you wish you could change…

You may not need someone to fix any of it.

You may simply need someone to sit beside you in it and say,

“You don’t have to go through this moment alone. We’ve got you.”

That’s what a support group can be.

A place where you can show up exactly as you are.

No explaining.
No pretending.
No judgment.
No timeline.

Just people who understand that sometimes the greatest gift we can offer another grieving person is our presence.

I’ve got you.
We’ve got you.
And we’ll walk beside you, one day at a time. ❤️

Yesterday we were honoured and humbled by the The Purple Ladies! Amy and Nicole dropped by our office to make an incredibly generous donation of over £2000! Our founder Amy (not the above Amy lol) accepted on behalf of everyone here as SOS.

As a small community organisation, donations like this make such a huge difference. Every penny helps us continue providing safe, welcoming spaces where women can come together, find connection, access peer support and know that they don’t have to face difficult times alone.

We’re incredibly grateful to the Purple Ladies and everyone who helped raise such an amazing amount. To choose to support SOS and the women in our community means more to us than we can properly put into words.

From all of us at Sisters of Support, thank you. 💜

Your generosity will directly help us keep doing what we do: bringing women together and making sure there is somewhere to turn when they need it most.
