We are delighted to share the announcement from Downing Street that His Majesty the King has approved the nomination of the Right Reverend Sarah Clark, Acting Bishop of Durham and Suffragan Bishop of Jarrow in the Diocese of Durham, for election as Bishop of Ely.

Merry Christmas, and best whishes for every inhabitants of Sames Manor and Cottenham. Special attention for who will be alone these celebration nights. And also for all of you who will be working these days in emergency services (police, fire rescue, medicals,...), youth and eldery care, hospitals, transports, energy and all other people I forget, who will serve the community in these celebration times. Also a special note for those who are supporting and leading the various christian churches Christmas services. Being myself one year every two working at sea, and serving in my off-time as a volunteer sacristin in my local church, and having a mother in retirement house, I know what it means and will pray for all of you.

109 years ago, private William Smith, from Cottenham, died in one of the military hospitals around Rouen and was buried in the Rouen St Sever Commonwealth cemetery. I have a thought for him today on his death anniversary. Not being in Rouen, I will perform act of remembrance in December.
