GB3IW ANTENNA NEWS 📡

We hear that the new antenna is now up with much more gain and so the signal should be better for further.

The GB3IW team will be monitoring it over the next few days.

WHICH WOULD YOU PREFER:
1) watching the cows munch grass 🐮
2) handling multiple QSOs & pile-ups? 📡

We've published a free, helpful, plain-English guide on what and how to check to see if going portable with your amateur radio today will produce hours of activity… or just static hiss.

Saturday 18th October - Experimenters' Field Day 📡

https://fparc.uk/2025/09/02/experimenters-field-day-2/

Ever wanted to be in a field with a mix of experienced, newly licensed, those who like theory and those who like "seeing what happens" - all available in one location for a day to assist each other with personal and team experiments?

Ever wanted to see how a thing is done?

Ever wanted to ask questions about a thing?

Want to try the thing?

REMINDER: Calling "…is this frequency in use?" is still appropriate on the VHF & UHF bands - no matter how many times you've heard no-one transmitting for "hours", and no-one has ever pointed out your faux pas for trampling on a live conversation because you've dialed a frequency that you and your mate always use on Sunday afternoon… 🤔

You may not be hearing the other side of a conversation, a relay or a Net, and amateur radio frequencies are shared 📡

Good club ("natter") meeting last night.

A discussion on construction projects & skills that might interest club members took place, too. Soldering skills, antenna design, RF/Current meters eetc will be discussed further on the club's private BBS for planning 🛠️

⚠️ 145 Alive - REVISED FREQUENCIES

Steve and I will now be transmitting on 145.550 MHz (FM narrowband) this Saturday 27th - noon to 1500.

See: https://fparc.uk/2025/08/03/145-alive-autumn-2025/ for latest frequencies and a Net Locations map.

Sorry for previous confusion - the 145 Alive team are doing a splendid job of reallocating frequencies due to location needs; we're keeping up with the latest information as it's published.

Take 145.550 MHz (FM narrowband) as gospel for FPARC.

Frequencies & details of the Autumn 2025 '145 Alive' 2m amateur radio event in UK and Ireland on 27th September, 2025.
