The Balls to cancer charity started raising awareness and helping cancer fighters in 2011. The charity was set up by husband and wife team Sue and Mark Bates, the reasons behind this was the tragic deaths of Sue’s Grandad a
nd Mark’s Dad to cancer (throat cancer and brain tumour respectively)
They saw a lack of information and support for men fighting cancer so Balls to Cancer filled that gap. It wasn’t very long before they saw that more and more women were contacting them for help so it was decided that they would offer support to anyone with cancer regardless of age or s*x whilst holding onto the original target of raising awareness for male related cancer. In addition to their help, support and information they decided to purchase a holiday home at the beautiful Haven holiday park at Burnham on Sea, soon followed with a second to offer free holidays to anyone who is fighting cancer. They also saw a need of a pack for people going through chemotherapy or radiotherapy. The pack is filled with items specifically chosen to help ease and reduce the side effects of treatment
Balls to cancer also offer dream days out to those that are terminally ill
