Healing Hearts Together Corby-based community group supporting families affected by child loss. We all experience grief differently, there is no right or wrong ‘grief journey’.

HEALING HEARTS TOGETHER is a free community support group that offers a safe, secure place in Corby for people who have been affected by child loss to talk freely with others who have similar lived experience. It will take as long as it takes for every individual to find a place for the grief of a loved one. We hope this group will bring comfort and support all family members to bring about change

to help them move forward and create future happy memories together. It is important to say up-front that this is NOT a group counselling session. Although both facilitators – Judy Caine MBACP and Cari Campbell MBACP (Accred) are qualified counsellors and parents. The idea for the group came from Mandy Young MBE DL, who sadly lost her own son, and wanted to offer support and help for others. At this point in time the group is only open to attendees over the age of 16. During group meetings, you decide what you want to talk about, what you would like to share (or not – there is no pressure). Judy and Cari will simply help all be heard and, if you wish, lead some group discussion and/or activity. This informal approach will enable the group to offer a confidential space, where people can talk freely without fear of judgement. Group meetings generally take place every two weeks on a Wednesday evening from 19:30 to 20:45 at 'THE SIR MATT BUSBY LOUNGE' at LODGE PARK SPORTS CENTRE. Last session we stepped outside the usual and took our grief journey outdoors – walking, talking, and reflecting by Corby Boating Lake. It was a gentle reminder that even in our heaviest moments, we can find fresh air, shared stories, and small smiles.

Some memories made us laugh. Others brought moments of reflection, sadness or numbness. But together, we created a space where every emotion was welcome. We talk things through, and we work thoughts and feelings out together.

Last session we looked at loss in general, and how we grieve for losses other than bereavement and the impact all loss has on us. Especially how one loss can trigger things in our mind and the range of emotions it brings up.

Our next session is tomorrow from 19:00 - / 20:30.

We will be meeting at Corby Boating Lake car park, as we plan to make this session a bit different, approaching it as a ‘mental health walk’ / picnic, together as a group embracing the outdoors and explore the memories that local sites bring to us.

Bereavement and grief can be extremely sad and upsetting, however there are happy moments of reflection, laughs too. Our group often share amusing memories that we smile over, but we are also there to provide comfort and support - especially for those thoughts or feelings not many can understand or relate to.

Our next meeting date is the 27th May, 19:00 - 20:30 pm.

Last session we spoke to members who suggested using outdoor public parks over the summer months to host picnics and drop in sessions.

We though this would be amazing to connect more memories with their loss and perhaps encourage new members who are apprehensive to attend in our normal setting.

What do you think? Do you have any ideas? We’d love to hear them.

Our next session venue is to be confirmed… we hope it will be at East Carlton Countryside Park, weather permitting. But still in Corby. Of course if weather is not so good, we will meet at our usual place, St Ninians Church.

Grief is complex, and it’s completely normal to experience many emotions at once.

In our group sessions, we often remind members that grief isn’t just sadness, it can bring anger, relief, numbness, confusion, or even moments of joy. These emotions may come in waves, sometimes unexpectedly, and that doesn’t mean you’re grieving “wrong.”

Your feelings are valid, no matter how contradictory they may seem to you.
Healing isn’t about "moving on" but about learning to carry loss in a way that honours your life. Grief changes over time, but it doesn’t have to mean letting go, it means learning and allowing yourself to carry it differently.
