Profiadau gwirfoddolwyr Prosiect Gweilch y Brenig.

Brenig Osprey Project volunteer experiences.

Mae rhai o’n gwirfoddolwyr yn rhannu’r hyn y mae’r prosiect yn ei olygu iddyn nhw.

Some of our volunteers share what the project means to them.

Dave - Lead Volunteer

One of my favourite things about volunteering on the Brenig Osprey Project is how it is growing beyond the Osprey to the amazing variety of Natures wonders that can be seen at Llyn Brenig and being able to show visitor things they would not normally see. Doing a Moth Trap for instance and the reactions to wonders normally only nocturnal. Such a privilege to share especially with visitors to the osprey lookout.

🦅 Their story does not happen by chance. We Need your help! 🦅

Every spring, the Brenig ospreys make the incredible journey back from Africa to Llyn Brenig.

We watch them return. We wait for the first egg. We celebrate every hatch and hold our breath as the youngsters take their first flights.

But behind every moment is a huge amount of work.

Our staff and wonderful volunteers work throughout the season to protect and monitor the ospreys, keep our cameras running, welcome and inspire visitors, support education and help people connect with the wildlife of Llyn Brenig.

💚 Now we need your help. 💚

We have launched our Brenig Osprey Project 2027 Fundraiser, with the aim of raising £40,000 by 31 March 2027 to help secure the future of this very special project.

Whether it's £5, £25 or £250, every donation will make a difference.

And if you can't donate, you can still help us enormously by sharing this post and helping us spread the word.

🦅 Be part of the story. Help keep the Brenig Osprey Project soaring.

🦅 Apêl Prosiect Gweilch y Pysgod Brenig 2027 🦅

Bob gwanwyn, mae gweilch y pysgod Brenig yn gwneud y daith anhygoel yn ôl o Affrica i Llyn Brenig.

Rydym yn gwylio wrth iddynt ddychwelyd. Rydym yn aros am yr ŵy cyntaf. Rydym yn dathlu pob cyw sy’n deor ac yn dal ein gwynt wrth i’r rhai bach gymryd eu hediadau cyntaf.

Ond y tu ôl i bob un o’r eiliadau hyn mae llawer iawn o waith.

Mae ein staff a’n gwirfoddolwyr gwych yn gweithio drwy gydol y tymor i ddiogelu a monitro’r gweilch, cadw ein camerâu i redeg, croesawu ac ysbrydoli ymwelwyr, cefnogi addysg a helpu pobl i gysylltu â bywyd gwyllt Llyn Brenig.

💚 Nawr, mae angen eich help chi arnom. 💚

Rydym wedi lansio ein Hapêl Codi A***n Prosiect Gweilch y Pysgod Brenig 2027, gyda’r nod o godi £40,000 erbyn 31 Mawrth 2027 er mwyn helpu i sicrhau dyfodol y prosiect arbennig iawn hwn.

Boed yn £5, £25 neu £250, bydd pob rhodd yn gwneud gwahaniaeth.

Ac os na allwch gyfrannu, gallwch ein helpu’n aruthrol o hyd drwy rannu’r post hwn a’n helpu i ledaenu’r neges.

🦅 Byddwch yn rhan o’r stori. Helpwch i gadw Prosiect Gweilch y Pysgod Brenig i hedfan yn uchel.

🍂 With our ospreys officially migrated for the winter, our volunteers are cracking on with essential off-season jobs! 🦺

🌾This week, the team is out managing our beautiful wildflower areas using a traditional hand tool: the scythe! It might look old-school, but it is actually the ultimate tool for meadow conservation. A beautiful day up at Brenig:
• Wildlife Safe: The quiet, sweeping rhythm gives local insects, frogs, and small mammals plenty of time to safely hop out of the way (unlike noisy, high-speed mowers). 🐸🐜
• Wildflower Boost: By cleanly cutting dominant grasses and removing the thatch, we lower the soil nutrients. This is exactly what delicate wildflowers need to thrive and outcompete tough weeds next spring. 🌸
• Zero Pollution: No fumes or loud engines—just a peaceful, rewarding way to care for the reserve.

A massive thank you to our incredible volunteers working hard behind the scenes to keep the site in peak condition for when the birds return next year! 💚

OSPREY UPDATE:
9L2 not seen since Monday
LJ2 not seen since yesterday, just before lunch.
372 last seen at 4pm Wednesday with a big trout.

Cameras: we are waiting for the ospreys to leave as the issue looks to be a power issue on the osprey peninsular, but we wont know for sure until engineers have been. Engineers will visit the osprey peninsular once we are certain all ospreys have left on their migration.

Thank you all for all your support, time and patience during the 2026 season, its been a success with all our osprey family surviving to migration. Fingers crossed they return next year.

Kindest regards
Sarah and the BOP team.

DIWEDDARIAD GWEILCH Y PYSGOD:

Ni welwyd 9L2 ers dydd Llun.

Ni welwyd LJ2 ers ddoe, ychydig cyn amser cinio.

Gwelwyd 372 ddiwethaf am 4pm ddydd Mercher, gyda brithyll mawr.

Camerâu: Rydym yn aros i’r gweilch adael gan ei bod yn ymddangos bod y broblem yn ymwneud â chyflenwad pŵer ar benrhyn y gweilch. Fodd bynnag, ni fyddwn yn gwybod yn sicr hyd nes y bydd y peirianwyr wedi ymweld â’r safle. Bydd y peirianwyr yn ymweld â phenrhyn y gweilch unwaith y byddwn yn sicr bod pob un o’r gweilch wedi gadael ar eu mudo.

Diolch yn fawr i chi gyd am eich holl gefnogaeth, eich amser a’ch amynedd yn ystod tymor 2026. Mae wedi bod yn llwyddiant, gyda’n holl deulu o weilch y pysgod wedi goroesi i gychwyn ar eu mudo. Croesi bysedd y byddant yn dychwelyd y flwyddyn nesaf.

Cofion cynnes,

Sarah a thîm BOP
