New Youth Club
New Youth Club coming to Leadgate next week. Mondays 4.30 to 5.30 in term time. Monday Funday Club at The Eden Miners Centre with a team time snack for 7 to 12 year olds. Fun games and sport, plus a snack and a drink. Run by Durham County Council DBS checked staff.

Volunteer for The Bread and Butter Thing
The Bread and Butter Thing at Leadgate Eden Miners each Wednesday provides inexpensive food with no questions asked...no means test or anything. For £8.50 you get a bag full of fruit and veg, a bag of dry goods, and a bag from the chiller cabinet. To join all you need is a phone and to follow this link https://www.breadandbutterthing.org/become-a-memberWe also need volunteers to help unload our van full of food at 12.00 noon and to bag up the food so its ready for customers at 2.00 pm. If you can spare an hour please just turn up one Wednesday about 5 to 12 and we'll sort you out.

Our mobile food clubs make life more affordable for people on low incomes, build stronger communities and reduce food surplus.

The Bread and Butter Thing is a scheme that shares surplus supermarket food to people who need it. Each Wednesday at Leadgate Eden Miners Centre you can get 3 big bags of food (one of fruit and vegetables, one of dry goods, and one of chiller cabinet goods) for £8.50. There is no means test or any other restriction on who can join providing you have a mobile phone able to receive texts. To join go to this link

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED.... The whole process depends on a bunch of volunteers turning up at 12 o'clock on a Wednesday and helping to unload all the food from a van, carry it into the centre, and bag it up. We are always after new volunteers to help...you don't have to come every week and we know everybody has different abilities for carrying etc. If you have an hour or two free on a Wednesday please think about coming along to help us help our friends and neighbours in tough times.

We have two youth clubs in Leadgate every week.

Monday night 5/30 to 6.30 Multi sports club run by Durham County Council for 7-to-12-year-olds.

Thursday night 6.00 till 8.00 run by Derwentside Detached Youth Project for 10-year-olds upwards

Free and open to all at Leadgate Eden Miners Centre
