💙 September is Su***de Prevention awareness Month 💙

At Men Together CIC, our message this month — and every month — is simple:

You don’t have to face things alone.

Too many men struggle in silence. Sometimes the hardest thing to say is “I’m not okay.” But reaching out, talking and being around others can make a real difference.

Men Together was created to give men aged 18+ a place to connect, make friends and feel part of something through sport, social activities and simply spending time together.

There’s no pressure to talk about how you’re feeling. Sometimes just turning up, having a kickabout, playing a game of pool or sharing a laugh with other lads is a start.

This Su***de Prevention Month, we’re asking everyone to do one simple thing:

Check in on your mates.

Send the message. Make the call. Invite someone out.

And if you’re the one struggling, please reach out. You matter, and there are people who want to listen.

🎯 DON’T FORGET — DARTS NIGHT THIS THURSDAY! 🎯

We have got 8 lads down so far ready to take part in our darts night but it would be great to see a few more lads come along even if its just for a bit of crack! 🤝

Any ability welcome! Whether you miss the board completely or somehow manage to hit a 180, who cares?! 🤣

It’s all about getting involved, having a laugh, meeting up and enjoying ourselves. 🎯

Even if you dont own a set of dart, Come along and give it a go! There will be some to use, the more the merrier! 👌🏻

McKenzie Wilkinson 🤝 Men Together Derwentside

We’re delighted to have Men Together Derwentside sponsoring McKenzie Wilkinson this season.

The group does important work supporting men’s mental health, encouraging men to talk, check in with each other and keep those conversations going.

With our Inside Out awareness activity taking place around Saturday’s game, it’s a timely reminder that looking out for each other — on and off the pitch — really matters.

A brilliant cause to have behind one of our lads this season. 💙🤍

Thank you, Men Together Derwentside.
Up the Rezzies! 💙🤍

Most people don't like Mondays, but for our Monday night lads it's their favourite day of the week!

Some tired legs after our in-house friendly on Sunday morning, and a few of these lads played Sunday evening as well!

A canny game all round, some great football being played and it's fantastic to see the fitness and skill levels across the group progressing at all levels.

The darker evenings are starting to creep in, but thankfully the pitch down at South Moor football club is flood lit so we can keep play going even when the sun goes down!

We go again on Friday! If you fancy a run out and a kick about with a great bunch of guys, send us a message!

Men Together Derwentside Proudly Sponsor Mckenzie Wilkinson: A Journey of Confidence, Camaraderie and Father-Son Teamwork
CONSETT — Men Together Derwentside is delighted to announce our proud sponsorship of Mckenzie Wilkinson, who has taken the field with Consett Reserves and truly found his place both on and off the pitch.

Mckenzie — known affectionately as Kenzi — has been attending sessions with us for just over two months. In that short time, the change has been wonderful to see: Kenzi has truly come out of his shell, building strong friendships and earning the respect of every one of the lads.
But what makes Kenzi’s story even more special is that he isn’t walking this path alone — his dad also attends the weekly football sessions. Now, the two take to the pitch side-by-side, playing together as teammates. Seeing father and son share a pitch, supporting one another and playing as one, is something truly amazing to behold.

That is exactly what Men Together Derwentside is all about: giving opportunities to men and young men who may never have thought they had it in them — opportunities to connect, grow, and find confidence through shared effort and friendship.
Kenzi and his dad are far from the only success story. We are now proud to have four sets of fathers and sons playing together on the same field — a sight that brings joy to everyone who comes along. It proves what community and support can achieve: breaking down barriers, building confidence, and strengthening families.

A Message from Mckenzie Wilkinson
“Men Together Derwentside is more than just a kick about. It’s all about men who have struggled and are currently struggling.
Since I joined, all the lads have been brilliant, welcoming me in and making me feel a lot better about myself. I joined partly to be around others who might be struggling too. The first time I came I was really nervous and didn’t know what to expect — but that first session was brilliant. Everyone was supportive and took me in straight away.
Since playing I’ve made plenty of memories and had so many laughs — especially with Uncle Valley and Mad Boy Stewy! Being able to share a pitch with my dad is honestly one of the best highlights of my footballing career.
And it’s not just me — plenty of other lads out there are getting to play alongside their dads too. So to anyone who’s struggling with their mental health: come and try it out for yourself. Come and see what Men Together Derwentside is really all about.”

Looking Forward
Everyone at Men Together Derwentside is incredibly proud to sponsor Kenzi. We have loved watching his journey unfold over these past months, seeing him grow in confidence and become such a valued part of the group. We are now cheering him on as he represents Consett Reserves — and we cannot wait to see just how far he goes in his footballing career. His dedication and talent are already shining bright, as you can see in the photo above!
Kenzi, you’ve shown courage, heart and real talent. We’re all right behind you every step of the way.

If you or someone you know would like to find out more about Men Together Derwentside and our sessions, come along and see what we’re all about — everyone is welcome.
